by William T Russell | August 5, 2012 - 2:52am Congratulations to COL (Ret) Benson. You have just hit the national political scene via Free Republic. The headlines will read: “US ARMY PLANNING TO QUELL TEA PARTY INSURRECTIONS.” This article should be a thoughtful discussion on the process of suppressing potential insurrections and Military/Defense Support to Civil Authorities. However, your scenario using the TEA Party, combined with your credentials as a Seminar Leader at Ft Leavenworth, has a high potential of causing a major political firestorm on the national level. Your scenario could easily give the President, the SECDEF, the CJCS, the SECARMY, and the CoS a political black eye. You have given credibility to the conspiracy theorists who believe the President is preparing to implement martial law to stay in power, and have undermined the faith which so many of the TEA Party members place in the United States Military to support and defend the Constitution. For an author who discusses the importance of information operations your article, you have demonstrated your utter incompetence in this area.

I always thought the US Army was the good guys, at least until I read this article. And if the authors are so darned clever as to how they can put down the American people, then why weren’t they clever enough to to win a war in Afghanistan? Or clever enough to create a lasting government in Iraq? Maybe it’s because they’re very clever but, when confronted with determined people who wish to be left alone, then will always lose.

A solid plan for unrivaled Success! However, if the rebels are to be suppressed sufficiently, I have it on good word that to their powder and rifle stores at Lexington and Concord you must go. Rest assured! Vigorous measures at present would soon put an end to this paltry rebellion. The deluded subjects are made to believe that they are invincible. When this glorious Fifth Army is ordered to act against them, they will soon be convinced that they are very insignificant indeed when opposed to regular troops. Once these rebels have been dealt a smart blow, they will fall to their knees and submit. Once disarmament is complete, effective resistance to the Crown will cease and policies of reestablishing order will proceed. God save his excellency King George.

I’m just reading the first one now. Been overwhelmed with canning fruit. In fact I should be doing it right now.

But I’d rather read your first story.

Plum stuff can wait.

These kind of concept white papers aren’t written without intent to follow through. Chances are that some staff officer in TRADOC is currently busy refining the draft field manual on homeland security operations against domestic terrorism.

Regarding your tagline:

Conservatism didn’t magically show up in Romney’s heart in 2012. You can’t force what isn’t in you.

Communism and Islamism have been nurtured in the heart of DBA 0bama for decades and he will continue to act on his beliefs, and if re-elected, his actions will escalate beyond your wildest imagination.

No doubt. And Willard is equally spring loaded to spread his style of liberal statism around also all in the name of being a good, solid and faithful republican.

LOL. If Obama wins, we’ll get taxed into poverty and then maybe you’ll feel justified that Mitt Romney isn’t president.

John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” If that is true, judging by current and even accelerating cultural shifts, we might already have passed the point of no return.

Bravo! But I think whatever happens, good will rise from the ashes.

So you’d rather see 0bama win.

I get it. At least you can feel pure.

COL Benson teaches at Leavenworth, his bio on the SWJ mentions this, and ties them together, making his article in the SWJ “semi-official.” Others such as him have been fired for speaking of Islamic jihad outside of PC strictures. Benson has not been fired.

To name the Evil White Racist Tea Party Militia KKK Nazis at the Official State Enemy was an astoundingly radical departure from all protocals, which always were to call the hypothetical enemy the Pineland Liberation Army etc. Naming the Tea Party in South Carolina as the future enemy for the U.S. Army to crush was a large wink and nod to the officer corps and state security services. “Get ready for action boys, and we know who the enemy is going to be.”

This was a disgusting abomination. It was Goebbels-like. On a smaller scale, it was not unlike Mein Kampf naming the Jews as the future enemy-to-be-destroyed. That COL Benson still has his job teaching our field-grade officers speaks volumes.

I think “Coup” was very optimistic. I see many other ways our country will slide into anarchy and then into despotism.

“Coup” got a mention in Derbyshire’s column on VDare.

John Derbyshire vs. Robert Weissberg On Race, Ethnicity, And The Future Of America
By John Derbyshire on September 12, 2012 at 10:29pm

—snip—

•Race war won’t happen.

Matt Bracken’s scenario of total societal breakdown has been bouncing merrily around the internet these past few days.

It’s a great narrative, and I urge Matt to work it up into a novel (or hire me to do the job—rates available on request). However, this is not going to happen.

Matt’s scenario is premised on the federal government being unable to fund welfare programs like SNAP and TANF, leading to widespread food shortages. Hungry minority mobs fan out into suburbs and country districts, committing mayhem. White and Asian vigilante groups organize for self-defense …

In the first place this underestimates the fiscal ingenuity of modern governments. Uncle Sam can find ways to keep the EBT card working, even if he has to sell off a couple of carrier groups to do so. This is a very rich country.

And in the second place, modern methods of social control are sufficient to contain disorder, and are still progressing fast: CCTV monitoring, pilotless drones, smart-phone cameras … I’m sure there are riots in our future, but they will be contained, much more easily than the riots of the 1960s were. The violence will not metastasize.

There is also the Steven Pinker factor to consider. We are softer, less violence-prone, more sissiefied than our grandfathers, or even our fathers. The Mad Matt scenario would involve massive trend reversal. Such things happen, but very rarely.

It follows that:

•Sectional secession won’t happen.

Yes, it is optimistic. But I cannot let go of my optimism. BTW this is my .02 about current events;

I think 0bastard is doing a couple of things with his current acts (not staying up to monitor attacks on Cairo embassay and Libyan consulated, giving Netanyahu the middle finger and then inviting Morsi to the WH, beating the drum of the faux movie in order to further aggravate Muzzies, forgiving $ 1 billion to Egypt, no bullets for Marines, and others I can’t remember at the moment, just got up):

He’s afraid he won’t be re elected, internal polls not good. So he wants a war in the Middle East NOW while he is still in the WH, so he can help destroy Israel and the US and act on behalf of Muslim countries.

Derbyshire not only mentioned "Coup" but linked to your previous article. That's a very good sign. Congratulations! Of course this means that The Girly Men at NRO will never admit to reading your stuff. Hmmmmmm. Maybe that's a plus. We wouldn't want the testosterone challenged to have to think now would we.

Keep it up Matt. Truth matters.

“Uncle Sam can find ways to keep the EBT card working, even if he has to sell off a couple of carrier groups to do so. This is a very rich country.”

Liberals think money grows on trees. They think a carrier group could easily be sold to someone else because if we don’t have money trees then they do. They have no concept of the national debt.

I changed that second paragraph of Music Stops, where I too blithely stated something about the EBT cards flashing zeroes. That was rightly criticised, since Uncle Sam can always replenish electronic digits. Since the essay is still getting new readers, it was worth a revision:

“What if a cascading economic crisis, even a temporary one, leads to millions of EBT (electronic benefit transfer) cards flashing nothing but ERROR? This could also be the result of deliberate sabotage by hackers, or other technical system failures. Alternatively, the government might pump endless digits into the cards in a hopeless attempt to outpace future hyperinflation. The government can order the supermarkets to honor the cards, and it can even set price controls, but history’s verdict is clear: If suppliers are paid only with worthless scrip or blinking digits, the food will stop.”
