...and to corroborate your point, a conservative Republican beat a Jewish Democrat in Weiner’s old district in Brooklyn/Queens, mainly on the strength of the ortho Jewish vote.

To those wondering why Jews vote for Democrats, every time this question comes up, I give the same answer:

They may be Jews by birth or affiliation, but their religion is liberalism.

As a Jew, I am telling you all that it will be an historic turnout for Romney.

Any American Jew that votes for Obama is an idiot!

...Hey now

Hey now, Staten Island actually has neighborhoods with streets, trees, and nice-looking private houses that most Americans would recognize as human settlements ... and did have Republican Congress critters.

This is rare in the Republican-Free Zones of the other Four Boroughs; a pleasant relief from other neighborhoods that look like Berlin in 1946 without the charm, or like Port-au-Prince after the big quake.

I guess that you have not heard of Congressman Bob Turner, who won a special election in a Brooklyn-Queens district which is the most Jewish in the nation.

Congressman Bob Turner

And a Hell of a welcome victory it was! Call me when he gets re-elected.

BTW, my knowledge of NYC is a little dated. I lived there after college and my Congressman was Koch! His boyfriend (a ballet dancer) was our neighbor.

I will guarantee you that Americans abroad in Israel will vote at least 75% for Romney vs. Obama, and (hypothetically) if all Israelis could vote in the American election, Romney might get 80-90% of their vote.

I have a brother there, and I can assure you that there is a highly organized campaign against Fauxbama. I'd bet on 85%-90%. Note that most Americans in Israel are quite religious, and they are generally quite politically conservative.

He won't be. The congressional district was destroyed. There was a deal to get rid of one district upstate and one downstate. The Democrats wanted to punish the Jews and other white ethnics for voting Republican, and getting rid of a white district is easier than a minority one.

The Upper East Side in the 1970s is quite different from these areas now.
