Oops! That should be “send” not “sent.”
Nobody is more aware of the shortcomings of public school education than the teachers themselves.
They know better than anyone the quality of the education available at the public schools.
Mods can fix that if you ask.
I imagine it would be like someone working in a Chicago slaughterhouse becoming vegetarian—perfectly understandable.

yes. and many of them are good conservative teachers.
but many are liberals, who KNOW the truth,
and yet fight against parents who want vouchers, etc.,
to be able to send their children to a decent school,
without the constant threat of violence, etc.
-
many policemen and firemen, are required, by contract,
to live in the district they work.
...public school teachers, who belong to unions,
should be REQUIRED
to send their own children to public schools.
Its a job?
A pretty good job for the vast majority.
Pays better than the average with good bennies.
That is if you are not a teacher in some kind of urban liberal hell hole.
Otherwise, you get three month of a year and the good month, too.
Frankly, I don’t rate public school teachers much above tour guides or someone who works in a recreational dept.
Why? Because most public schools SUCK! They would know best.

I’m no expert on this, but I think you have a shot at Post of the Day. A very concise observation IMHO.
well said. who knows, they might even get tuition assistance as benefit.
That’s a trick question? Right?
As with most government jobs, teachers almost cannot be fired, regardless of how terrible they are short of criminal conduct. However, many public school teachers do absolutely wonderful work, taking pride in teaching their students well. That varies tremendously by school district, but we have excellent, politically-neutral public schools in my area.
I got that feeling when I heard 2 teachers in a neighboring suburban town talk about how they home school their children. They wouldn’t even send their own kids to the same school they teach in. If that isn’t an indictment of the public education system I don’t know what is.
That's OK ... for a public school kid.
/8^)
Public teachers send their kids to private schools because:
1. They know the public schools have poor standards and by and large are pure sh— when it comes to educating children.
2. They make enough money to send their kids to private schools. They make enough money because they are public school teachers.
3. They love their children and do not want them to be subjected to the “Clockwork Orange” that is public education.
........to ask the question is to answer it Grasshopper.
However, many public school teachers do absolutely wonderful work, taking pride in teaching their students well.
If I had to guess I would say 1 in 4? Forgive my terrible grammar btw...:)
Public teachers send their kids to private schools because
Not to mention being the daughter or the son of a teacher is often not a pleasant experience.
Especially, if your mom or dad is not well liked.
I think the odds are much better than that. Even at that ratio, it's not a reason to avoid public schools, not when we know that the bad teachers are concentrated in some schools and the good teachers in others. It's a reason to choose schools carefully if you're not going to homeschool, and to seriously consider homeschooling in certain areas.
