Love the tune “I’ll Be Seeing You”. First heard it on Jo Stafford’s “GI Jo” album. My dad wore the grooves off that record.

Mentioned in Mr Churchill Says by the Kinks from the 1969
album Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall of the Brit Empire):
As Vera Lynn would say, we’ll meet again some day
But all the sacrifices we must make before they’re here

It was a decade before I was born, but I love listening to the music of the 1940s, especially the songbirds like Vera Lynn, Dinah Shore, Frances Langford, Peggy lee, Jo Stafford, and Doris day.
They could not only sing - they also contributed much of their time to supporting the Troops in so many ways.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

White Cliffs of Dover makes me tear up every time. On VE Day +50 [1995], she sang White Cliffs of Dover from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The crowd that gathered outside the gate [1 million +] ALL sang it with her.
Very touching ...

Thanks for the ping. I remember some of her songs from when I was a kid during WW-II.

There is now a Lera Lynn from Athens Georgia, who appeared on musicfog.com last weekend, at least until I muted the speaker.

I never knew who Vera Lynne was until now. I have been listening to that song for over 20 years.
