I think Rush simply saw his comments had become a national issue, one that could affect the election and diminish Republican chances.

The loss of sponsors was also a factor. He saw he'd been targeted, Alinsky-style, and the situation would only grow much worse if left unaddressed. Businesses in the U.S. are terrified of being perceived as "politically incorrect."

The only warning Rush got was four sponsors dropping him like a rock. So much for those “obscene profit timeouts.”

Rush could use himself as bait to draw out the enemy. I have a feeling he has some bad ass mo fo’s for protection if needed plus probably some awsume investigators. He has the money and support from the good guys.
