FWIW, it’s tougher to lay your hands on ammo cans. They are now considered traceable items and not freely procured anymore. Additionally, I saw somewhere, ..I believe some homeland security regs label ammo cans as being associated with items of interest for ‘terrorists’. Some perceive them as providing justification for arrest or at least a ticket and confiscation if observed during a traffic stop. Just be sure to relabel/repaint yours so it isn’t as quickly so identified by the illiterate legalist.

I also used a small piece of a broke decorative concrete edge as a support under the pipe to hold it in place better. You can pick in a small concrete cobble stone at any lawn and garden center to do the same thing.

What did you use for the rods on top?
Drill rod?
Bolts with the heads cut off?
Something else?

“20MM” is the form of answer I was looking for.
There’s a vendor at the local periodic gun show that sells virtually nothing but ammo cans, in all sizes.
There’s one coming up in mid-September.
Thanks for the info.

From the pictures here and at the Bear Ridge site, it appears that the “tunnel” is used for fuel and air supply, and that the combustion takes place primarily in the “silo”.
Is that correct?

Primarily the fuel itself burns at the end of the fuel chamber you actually want to keep the fuel out of the bend area. There is secondary combustion taking place cause by the intense concentrated in the exhaust tube one of the reasons the burn is so complete with little to no smoke.

There is a 90% joint connecting the burn chamber to chimney.

That was my original understanding of how it was configured, but the Bear Ridge site shows a hole cut in the side of the vertical pipe (”silo”) and the horizontal coffee can (”tunnel”) is spliced into a hole in the side of the silo.

Is the elbow made of the same material as the straight sections?
It looks like aluminum in the picture.

Yes it’s all the same brought the stove pipe at a local hardware stove the 90 I ordered as the local was out and wasn’t interested in when they get them back in or ordering one for me and I didn’t feel like driving all over town to find it. Everything is the same and the pipe is made for venting wood stoves.
