Very good work and BTTT. One item caught my attention again and that was 85. Drowning doesn‘t look like drowning-by Mario. That is one thing that people have to learn and to unlearn the "prevailing wisdom." When I was a lifeguard many many many years ago, we did not have this type of training. I remembered the first time I figured it out.

It was a hot day at a neighborhood pool. I was only 17. Swimmers had these jobs during the summer months. I still remember the look on the young girls face. There was an urgency that clicked immediately. The water was not deep and people were all around her. She was just trying to keep her mouth above water.

Back in those days, we learned hands on maneuvers. Today they use floats and for good reason. I was surprised at her strength. I got her turned and then out, but I remember how she just locked on to me. It was all training and it was automatic. She did not scream or flail. She just was trying to keep her mouth up at the pool drop off.

It has now been 37 years, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Everything, including the smells. I also remember that I became angry a few days afterwards. I could not understand how everyone around her missed the emergency.

Thanks for the post. I hope many will read it completely. Preparation is not necessarily the amount of food and ammo you have stockpiled. Preparation is also about situational awareness.

That chapter really stood out. It should be one of the ones that stands out beyond the rest, because it clarifies the errors of prevailing wisdom.

Thanks again for your hard work.
