..ahem.....I've read it. I'd suggest reading other proposals from the organization. They are pretty much a 'documented' open border outfit.
wow....
Yep, the language is downright Orwellian at times. Ya think that would be the tipoff that their agenda stinks. You don’t need weasel words to sell an upright proposal.
Wait! Is freaking McCain even in this race?
Funny, Gingrich is opposed to a border fence. Opposed to e-verify.
Where does he say that? You're just making stuff up now. Aren't you?
Not the sign, to me, of someone serious about combating illegal immigration.
And what do you think the Red Card Solution is? Look it up.
And seriously, the BIG difference between 2007 and now in this amnesty debate is the economy. Can you seriously back an outfit - Kriebel - that wants companies to be able to bring in low-cost third-world labor into this country at a time when millions of Americans are out of work?
Kriebel is a member of the Heritage Foundation. U.S. companies have been bringing in temporary labor from Mexico, since forever. There are crops in the field now, going to waste because there's no one to pick them. What is a Green Card?
Yep, humanity for the illegals. Guest-worker jobs for non-Americans. And out-of-work Americans can go suck eggs. THAT to me is the biggest issue here.
If they are living in Occupy Camps instead of competing for jobs, then yes, they can go suck eggs. There are plenty of jobs now, but some Americans would rather lay around complaining and protesting, or collecting 99-weeks unemployment, than work.
Correct. I also find it interesting that while they are against placing the screening process on the employer with E-Verify, one of the main components of their Red Card is mandating these "employment agents" perform the screening! WTH is the difference?
Uh, no, I am not.
He differs from most of his rivals in not advocating a border fence between the United States and Mexico
Gingrich Shows 'Compassion' for Illegal Aliens He Helped Stay Rooted in U.S.
As Speaker of the House, Gingrich was in the pivotal position to help Immigration Subcommittee Chairman Lamar Smith push through the 1996 comprehensive bill that set up the verification program that eventually was named "E-Verify."
The Commission had found that illegal immigration was booming in the 10 years since the 1986 blanket amnesty because illegal aliens had found it was still easy to obtain and keep U.S. jobs.
What did Speaker Gingrich do?
Those of us involved in that fight know that we were constantly and desperately seeking support from Gingrich which didn't come.
Instead, Gingrich tried to kill the new job verification system entirely. Fortunately, the killer amendment he supported failed. No thanks to Gingrich, we have an E-Verify system today.
But the E-Verify system is entirely VOLUNTARY today because of another House vote which Gingrich won. That vote was to make sure that the verification system would NOT be MANDATORY for employers.
So whatever Gingrich may say now is undone by what he did when he had the power to influence the development of E-verify.
So you don't even have your history straight about Newt. No point in further debate with the deliberately ignorant. Later.
And as we have seen, he's made headlines all over the globe about an amnesty. That, sends the exact wrong message, and he knows better.
Man, you are a lying troll.
Alabama's unemployment rate dropped a half-percentage-point when their anti-illegal immigration law was enacted.
Are there no lies you won't regurgitate to hold onto your otherwise-indefensible position here?
I must have missed Newt prefacing his support of Krieble Foundation policy with that. It would seem rather contradictory anyway since their position is we can't secure the border, can't deport XX million Illegals, cant this, can't that,....
Hey, under the ‘red card’ program, anyone an employer’s agent picks is, pretty much by definition, legal. E.g., one muslim employer could bring in as many employees from Yemen or Pakistan or wherever that it would like.
You mean the same Heritage Foundation that liked Romneycare?
Heritage is not infallible. Far from it.
If you mean some will always get through, you are correct. Here is one place Perry is right though. That border could be 'secure' with more drones, a few more boots on the ground, and some rapid response squads with chinooks that can round up larger groups of border crossers.
You are right about enforcement as well. It is working in AZ and AL.
And exactly who is suggesting such a thing? Why does that premiss always get included in a reason for a "comprehensive" solution.
I believe you are correct. He can sometimes let his mouth get ahead of his brain, that was not one of those times.
Yup....looks like he set this up IMO.
That’s right. Ronald Reagan. My point is that 25-years ago we said the same thing, and we see the results. The fact that Reagan was the one to push the decision doesn’t make it a good one.
I am just pointing out to all those supporting Newt’s amnesty strategy that it has been tried before and was an utter failure.
If it involves letting the illegal aliens stay here, it’s amnesty, troll. We don’t support amnesty on FR.
Friends don't let friends vote for liberal RINO's.
The above which you highlighted in bold from #55 is how I have described this "secure the border first" ruse, because it's been used at least since 2007 when Juan McCain used it to divert attention from his history on illegal alien/border issues.
If anyone has forgotten when the “secure the border first” ruse came into common use, you only need to scan this Google, and notice the dates:
