I had to look it up to even know what the ticket is. I’m the Texas equivalent of an atheist: I don’t watch sports. I think there are 3 of us in Dallas.
if you are born and raised in appalachia, you are raised on country music. lol
my grandpa to this day keeps his radio on WHOK-95.5 (classic country local FM powerhouse) all day long when he is working outside or around his house.
Thank for sharing—hope neither can go to the trouble of going to the polls. Heh. Also, my compliments on your writing—enjoy your style.
I was raised on standards like Dean Martin, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra etc. However, you wouldn’t catch me listening to it myself. As I’ve said before, I’m more of a Nine Inch Nails kinda guy.
It is interesting though that I don’t associate Ohio with country music. When I think of Ohio, I think of Drew Carey and that sort of environment. Of course I live in a neighborhood that’s officially called Little Saigon, and it’s nothing like you’d associate with Texas.
Dang, I’m 52 and if a nice young woman hits on me I have to ask “how much?” lol
John Glenn made the argument years ago that the first Presidential primary should be in Ohio because we better represent the country as a state. I think he is right.
We have a little bit of everything. SE Ohio, where I grew up is old coal country in the appalachian foothills (culturaly like WV and E KY). The town I live in now is a bit closer to Columbus and a little bit more mid-upper middle class, but still quite rural.
We have a lot of hispanics and blacks in the cities of course. Western Ohio is farm country much like Indiana and Illinois. the Northeast is more blue color factory and what used to be steel country.
Is it common for guys with “a lot of money” to ride the bus in LA?
Does that make Lakewood San Francisco?
I had no idea Bill Clinton lived in LA.
Gross...
Hope you’re ok. ;)
LOL..Not Lakewood. But they do call Columbus “the little San Francisco of the midwest”. The local tv stations have an odd what seems to be a preference to hire openly gay weather guys. no joke.. *shrug*
I turn on the local weather and either see a gay guy.. or C cup + plus young women who you can tell are not there for their forecasting skills. LOL
Are the self-designated or appointed FReeper basher?

Usually I argue, but... he was old. I just can't take on a really old person. It seems cruel, even if they are total jerks.
No, no, totally serious! It's called "Los Americans" and it's one of those unintentionally funny creations that moves along at a soapy clip. Dad lost his job. Grandma drinks. Son has knocked a girl up. Dad just met hot white woman. Wife is jealous. Son's girlfriend's mother beats her... it's one of those so-bad-it's-good things.
Actually, there are quite a few. They are quiet, but they are here. We even had a Beverly Hills Tea Party gathering last month, and hosted Ben Shapiro and several other speakers. It was a nice turn-out. Couple hundred very quiet, well-mannered people who listened to the speakers, nodded, clapped, and did not litter.
Man, your page made me laugh! When I saw the little economy-sized Batmobile....
I was just being sarcastic :). Republicans used to be able to win elections out there on a regular basis. Especially in the surrounding areas like Orange County, then demographics and other cultural and economic factors kicked in and that was the end of that.
It’s not just a trend there. The same thing happened around Chicago, Seattle, Detroit and im afraid Houston and Dallas are next within 20 years. I just ordered Pat Buchanan’s book “Suicide of a Superpower” where he goes into to a lot of this.
It is hard to believe for a me..a guy who is young enough to be your son lol (born in 1986) that George Bush the father carried Cali and Illinois in 1988.
So sorry for the encounter but, Good Heavens, I enjoyed your telling of it!
