That’s funny in a horribly twisted way.

I’d still be receiving them in change. I do occasionally pick up a role of coins at the bank.

I actually collect those golden dollar coins, I keep a bunch in the truck for whenever it needs to be washed, beats a bunch of quarters.
Give your kids a 3 gallon empty water jug and use it as a piggt bank but give the kids those golden coins instead of anything else.

The shiny alone will hypnotize them.

Nothing wrong with that. I remember an uncle using a Mason jar to store his quarters when I was a child. The thing was full, and my eyes goggled when I saw it.

If your kids are interested in coins, there's a bunch of half-dollar roll searchers out there. Although some are numismatists looking for scarcities, the main goal is to score silver ones. It's frustrating at times, but there's the occasional 40% or 90% silver. Some people are lucky enough to find a Franklin.

Glad to. I used to see that other-reasons disclaimer and assumed it was merely pedantry. ("Don't affirm the consequent" and all.) Now I see why people use it.

Thanks danielmryan.
It's more than just amusing that a number of tea partiers -- who profess to being so close to their constituents and are the champions of free market economics -- are taking up this cause when the evidence is so one-sided and incontrovertible.  Add to history the fact that consumers these days are increasingly using credit and debit cards for small purchases and, therefore, the need for currency in general and dollar bills or coins is likely to continue to fall, and you have to wonder why other than providing new corporate welfare this is even an issue again.

Other than the now-obsolete former American silver dollar that used to work so well in Las Vegas, my favorite is the British ₤1 coin. It looks like money, feels like money, and has a pleasing heft in the hand. If I were to rummage around here, I could find about 20 of them that we kept as souvenirs of a trip to England.

Our sorta-quarter-sized, thin gruel of a coin that we use for dollars is a big loser in my book, as all the other ones since Susan B. Anthony. Come ON! Susan B. Anthony???
