We Won. Yippee.

I'm with sinanju on this. It's dangerous to underestimate your enemies, but its also bad policy to give them too much credit as well. The Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Al Qaeda etc are not all-powerful, they do not speak for all muslims and they certainly don't speak with one voice. I suspect they were caught just as much by suprise as the west was by the "Arab Spring".

An unpleasant and mentally unhinged dictator has had his deserved comeuppances - I don't suppose there are too many people who would say that was anything other than a good thing. However, we will not know if we really have won until we find out who now takes over in Libya. If it is a pro-democracy group, great. Certainly the Brits and the French are pushing that hard. If the Muslim brotherhood comes out on top I predict there will be more trouble. I can't imagine the Europeans will be happy having a militant Islamic state on their southern borders.

We live in times that no longer allow us to say, “Naaah, that can’t happen here”, we live in times that force us to say, “Holy crap! I hope that’s not true!”
