I have no idea, nor will I ever I suppose, what Gingrich said to Wallace. I bet it was something good. It’s a shame this author assumes everybody knows, so why bother, uh, reporting what was said.

Newt did himself proud with a bitch slap on Wallace for gotcha questions. Wallace deserved it. He's too smart for his own good. I was glad to see him bleed. He was stunned.

Theres a video at the link.

Someone should tell the political writer that the Senate majority leader is Harry Reid, Not “Reed”.
He makes the goof twice in the article below the video.

He lied that ti wasnt a gotcha question and he lies that it isnt about making a name for himself.

The shame is....he has very few chances to ask her a question at this event...and the best he can comeup with is this?

His job is to help us educate ourselves on the candidates at hese events and how they will govern period.

Wallace asked Newt why he thought he could be president when he can't even run a campaign. It was a perfectly legitimate question, but Newt threw a hissy about “gotcha” questions (a response he had obviously memorized and was itching for a chance to use, although he wasted it on an innocuous and legitimate question). As you can see, the newtoids are leaping to Newt's defense by attacking FOX as a “liberal” outlet.

Wallace's question about Gingrich's executive skills was totally appropriate. Gingrich used a shop-worn ploy to garner some support for his dead-in-the-cradle campaign. I'm surprised anyone was offended by the question. If your entire staff quits within weeks, it leads to legitimate questions about your organizational and executive skills.

Wallace’s question was legitimate; if you can’t effectively run a campaign, and your staff quits and openly criticizes your leadership, how can you expect voters to have confidence in your ability to run the nation? Wallace asks tough questions, sometimes uncomfortable ones, but that’s what journalists are supposed to do. It’s only because it’s such a dramatic contrast between the milquetoast inquiries that we’re used to hearing Obama get, that people get angry. I’ll take 100 Wallaces over the rest of the current press corps.

Wallace is a liberal in sheeps clothing. This guy came from the liberal stations and his father was a big time liberal. Fox should have gotten rid of him after his absurd ‘flake’ questions to Bachmann. The way to fight back to write Fox and stop watching Wallace. Let Fox know that you have stopped watching a number of their shows including Bill O’Reilly who slighted the Tea Party.

One would think that this debate and questions were orchestrated by the Democratic Party!

The question to Gingrich was completely legitimate. Of course, he should have asked Gingrich first why a leftwing radical Pelosi disciple was running in the Republican primary. Gingrich should be forced into the Dem primary, where he belongs.

His father made a name for himself asking annoying and offensive questions.

I don't know the breakdown of how hard Mike Wallace was on liberals versus how hard he was on conservatives, but he did bring up the question of who wrote Profiles in Courage when John Kennedy was planning to run for President, so he could be a liberal and still ask searching, probing, uncomfortable questions of liberals.

Maybe Chris Wallace is a liberal or maybe not, but I'd like to think that conservatives are big enough to accept that a journalist could ask tough questions without being an enemy.

I can’t understand why anybody could support Newt. He’s already destroyed one conservative landslide (after taking credit for it), and now he’s just running on pure ego, not even realizing what a hypocritical gasbag he is.

“I can’t understand why anybody could support Newt. He’s already destroyed one conservative landslide (after taking credit for it), and now he’s just running on pure ego, not even realizing what a hypocritical gasbag he is.”

I can’t understand why people can’t distinguish the difference between INTERVIEWS versus a PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE. I would have been absolutely fine with that question if Wallace had asked that tabloidish question on his Sunday show.

However, intelligent people can see the difference between what questions are appropriate in a venue being sold as a presidential debate. How in the &^#*% could all the candidates’ debate that question about Newt’s campaign staff versus the positions of the other candidates compared to newt’s let’s say on GLOBAL WARMING.

THAT =WOULD- have been a tough question to ask Newt and other candidates could LEGITIMATELY inveigh on the topic.

To further elucidate, allow me to give a sample framing for you ozzy. Wallace, if he had the requisite intelligence - COULD have asked Newt - “Mr. (former) Speaker Gingrich, you recently participated in a “public service” commercial with Nancy Pelosi in which you alleged that ‘together we can all stop climate change’... WHAT would you say to the millions of conservatives who were disenchanted by you joining this leftist swine in cramming this propaganda down our throats when millions of conservatives see this as a transparent agenda to undermine America’s sovereignty and to enrich global scoundrels like Al Gore and Barack Obama by creating demand for this carbon credit exchange they seek to create making billions of dollars for themselves? What would you say to those people Mr. Gingrich???”

I think THAT question (minus the acrimonious verbiage I added for amusement) would be much more suitable for the other candidates to inveigh than to ask “Governor Palenty, what are your thoughts on how Mr. Gingrich’s campaign staff all resigned and what would YOU do if tomorrow - YOUR campaign staff resigns?”

Yes, I know it’s funny the way I framed the last question but hopefully the diminutive minority of people who actually admit to thinking Wallace’s questions was appropriate for a PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE will see the difference by considering the two “TOUGH” questions for Gingrich I have put forward for consideration. I think mine would have been 100 times more stinging to Gingrich and he certainly couldn’t have contended a question on promoting “CLIMATE CHANGE” with Nancy Pelosi to be a “gotcha” question.

Once more, here’s my key to the appropriate test for questions in a DEBATE - is the freaking question debatable between the candidates?

Still think I’m a Gingrich supporter simply because I take issue with the egregiously unprofessional and underhanded methods of this pompous jackass? Truth be told, I never liked Wallace but I really became outraged when he asked Bachman “are you a flake?”

I’m actually a fan of Jim DeMint who isn’t running. I’m liking Perry more than any of the current candidates but I have concerns. So I really don’t have a candidate right now. If DeMint would run, I’m 100% in.

Let's not forget the Swift Boat Vets. He was a prick from beginning to end of that fight.

Over the years he has turned into an insufferable wind bag, he's rude, he's crude, he should be "blued" and "tattooed" (left out one for you there...).

Regards,
GtG

I can’t wait for him to ask Barney Frank if his having sex with other men has at all hindered his political position or saying to Hillary, it is said “out there” that you have no ankles and your thighs are too big, what do you say to those proposing that?
Chris to Caroline Kennedy: What effect on the family was there when your uncle drowned that nice young girl by driving drunk?

EXCELLENT!!

So asking Bachmann if she is submissive to her husband? She was making a figurative statement...

Actually, I believe Wallace was pre-empting the leftist media by asking Newt the same question he would be asked by a hostile leftist “reporter”. Same for asking Bachmann the “flake” question. You know damn well those questions would be asked by lefties, and that they still will, but Wallace defused them by asking them already in an atmosphere where they could actually reply. Michelle handled the question, Newt blew it with his contrived hissy fit.

I think Newt’s main appeal is to people who can’t tell the difference between Newt’s gasbaggery and actual knowledge.

As for “my” candidate, I’m still in the “anybody but Obama” stage. I’d even pick Romney over Obama, but apparently I risk being banned here for expressing that opinion.
