Ah, yes, of course. You can paint everyone who disagrees with you with a broad brush but you can't respond to any points made unless they are personally addressed to you. Here ya go...

To crghill

Two reasons we didn't attack the USSR. 1)They had nukes before we had any chance to do anything about it. 2)The USSR built nukes to maintain a standoff with us. Iran is building nukes to use them.

Apparently RP is too stupid to see that.

Is your ego stroked enough to respond to it now?

What about mcCain? Lots of people on here liked him 3 years ago.

That is absolutely absurd. I followed every thread about McCain from Nov. 2006 to the day he got the nomination, posting info on how bad he is, and in all that time there were only three FReepers who openly supported him. Here is a FReep Poll from that time period...

Free Republic Opinion Poll:
Would you be for or against McCain?
Member Opinion
against 92.4% 2,989
for 7.6% 247

Sure. I’ll begin my reply with a question. Do you feel that the foreign policies under both repubs and dems as administered by the CFR has any substantial differences?

2nd, i’ll share my opinion on foreign policy. I believe that by involving itself in wars it can’t afford, America is being driven to the point of bankruptcy. Thus, I believe the U.S would be better served by bringing troops home and concentrating on a strong national defense. I believe RP is the closest candidate to that position.

Lastly, I didn’t see you post when I posted. Your response however prompts me to tell you the following. I don’t know who the last person was to call you a jerk but I bet I can tell you who the next person is.

This is always the answer I get from Paulites after some discussion. A underlying dislike of Reagan for perceived failures. The same ones Paul promoted in his 1988 run. I subscribe to absolutely none of that thinking. Next to Calvin Coolidge, Reagan was on of our best President that century.

The Iran situation is far graver than Pakistan. The problem with Paul’s argument is that we have an opportunity to stop Iran and not only is he against that, he says they deserve to have one so they can sit at the adult table. That is absurd. They have openly said that they are for the destruction of Israel, our ally in the region. Why in the world would we let Iran go nuclear when we can clearly see their endgame?

I am an unabashed solid Conservative. I have no time for free love, free drugs and a free for all. That is why I find Libertarians fun to chat with and hang out with at parties, but want them nowhere near the Oval Office.

I appreciate your kindly worded response. I will be the first to admit that RP isn’t perfect. Perhaps you are correct. However, if Saudi Arabia had a military base in the US, would that prompt some people to take extreme action against it? I’m a Texan and can tell you if a foreign country had a mil base in Texas I’d get pretty extreme pretty fast. My opinion...bring em home.

Below is the most definitive thing I’ve seen on the important differences between Conservatives and Ron Paul Libertarians. Many of you may appreciate it; but for those who support RP, please show an open mind - at least read it. (And no, those of us who don’t are NOT “neocon koolaid drinkers” who love war. We just understand the facts on radical Islam and Koranic teachings - something Paul should either learn or cease making naive, inaccurate pronouncements. Muhammad commands his followers to enslave or kill ALL INFIDELS (non-Muslims) who reject the “invitation” to convert to Islam. Period. It has NOTHING to do with our “policies”, how “nice” we are, whether we “mind our own business”, or whether we’re friendly to Israel or not. And Ron Paul’s naive ignorance of these facts is downright dangerous. If any of his supporters are really interested in learning, there are excellent, well-respected resources on the subject, and many of us here on FR would be happy to recommend some for starters.)

Here’s the article:

“It’s Conservatism Stupid! (Or, Why I Won’t EVER Support Ron Paul)”

Those are funny little skits. They really sum up the level of argument the Paulites trade in. Very funny.

Figures, all you’ve got is ad-hominem and dismissal. Not even man enough to be direct about it.

Maybe I don’t have a solid grasp of your post, but doesn’t your argument dismiss American Exceptionalism? Are we the same as the Saudis? Under what rubric would a foreign power have bases here?

That is a very concise piece. Thanks for posting. I think it is going to fall on deaf ears if the cult of personality that the article describes is true.

New Mexico is pretty close to Texas isn't it?

Facts and pictures from the German Air Force Flying Training Center (GAFFTC) at Holloman AFB (Fliegerisches Ausbildungszentrum der Luftwaffe, FlgAusbZLw)

The German Air Force (Luftwaffe) and the "German Air Force Flying Training Center (GAFFTC)" at Holloman AFB

The German Air Force has been training its aircrews in the United States since 1958. This training took place on various bases throughout the states before it was moved to Holloman Air Force Base, NM, in 1992.

There are numerous reasons the German Air Force trains here. The area offers great flying weather and has suitable air space. Other reasons are the proximity of Holloman AFB to the German Air Force Air Defense Center (GAFADC) at Ft. Bliss, TX and the centralizing of German aircrew training for the Tornado at a single location.

Get on over there and whoop some butt, boy!

Oh, wait, there's one right there in Tejas!!!

More ad hominem and straw man arguments.

You were shown to be wrong regarding Reagan and his view on libertarianism.

Now, did Reagan leave office with the government larger then when he came in or not?

What you are is someone who cannot discuss this subject rationally.

The fact that you equate this with our presence in certain foreign countries tells me your an emotional puss. Do you know what a red herring is? Ever heard the term misdirection. You might have a tigers eye but you got a snails brain.

How will we stay exceptional if we are broke? Why must we proselytyze this exceptionalism? Can’t we build a strong national defense without occupation.

Our issues with being broke are directly related to having a Communist as President. Even though Bush blew money on wars and pet projects, his low tax program had money flowing into the treasury. A solid Conservative will be able to get this economy back on it's feet and operating the way it should.

Electing a man who will allow me to open my ferret banging farm, for revenue enhancement, because it isn't covered in the Constitution will not. Plus we will be left far more open to foreign danger and cultural decay.
