Thanks for the kind words.
Jimi Hendrix had great talent as a guitarist. Amy Winehouse had an original voice and sound. Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain were both retarded screeching hacks with a talent for attention-seeking and nothing else.
Russell Brand is a pretty fair writer.
“...that voice, a voice that seemed not to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie”
Can’t agree. Winehouse was a great singer in her own right, but Billie was most emphatically in the room every time Amy opened her mouth.
Amy Winehouse
Kurt Cobain
Janis
Jimi
Jim Morrison
Robert Johnson (early great bluesman)
Brian Jones
Ron ‘Pigpen’ Mckernan (original Grateful Dead keyboardist)
A whole lot more musicians have died at 27, these are just the highly influential ones.
It makes even less economic sesne to put them in prison where the expense is much, much higher.
What would make sense is charging those who sell drugs as a profit making business on par with a murder sentence - no parole, 15 year minimum sentence. Selling would be defined as with the intent to make money, not those selling to support an addiction.
