If I was Becker and Fagan in 1974... I wouldn’t be taking any disrespect from a drunken goofball, didn’t need to

I love “Nightfly” too. We saw them at Great Woods about 5 or 6 years ago. They were amazing!

I was a pretty big Steely Dan fan back in high school in the 70s. I had all of their releases up to Aja.
I recently purchased Pretzel Logic again, but it sounded a little dated to me. Can't Buy A Thrill still sounds good to my ears tho, David Palmer notwithstanding.

Thanks, but “not available in my country” (US).

I havent seen one, just went through dozens on YouTube in the compilation of this piece, fwiw Got to be one out there, or so youd think
Most just don't seem to have that driving bass, and the drums seem more subdued. It just loses that heavy feel that defines the song.
Kind of a rarity for Steely Dan, in that most of their songs lose nothing at all when performed live. Unfortunately, KC seems to be the exception, at least for me.

Probably the closest thing they ever did to a love song
Pearl of the Quarter
Wouldn't that be "I got the news"?

More than one way to skin a cat I suppose... Here's the
live recording.

Thanks. I haven't heard that version in a long time. I think I just lost an eardrum. Oh well, that's why we have two of them.

I just found this, and thought you might be interested. The solo at the end is worth the price of admission:
Kid Charlemagne

I bought the Citizen Steely Dan box set when it first came out. After all that talk about the band the other day, I loaded the whole set on my iPhone. Great great stuff.
Thanks for the link.

yeah, I’m partial to a better grade of tequila these days too. ;-)
