Time to watch my 5 dollar copy of ‘Banditas’ again. PC and SH are my idea of superhotties.

Saw it today. A little darker, with less comedy. Some of it could have been cut and re-worked [the opening scene in London comes to mind] BUT Depp and Cruz were a hoot together. Very funny and good chemistry. And while I ejoyed the effects, I’m becoming less and less of a 3-D fan.

That said, I enjoyed it. Could it have been better, yes. Was it good enough ? You bet. And I also liked all three of the originals

And the reviewer may not have noticed, but I don’t think this is a stand alone like the first PIRATES was. There were a few threads left open at the end screaming “sequel. And from what I’ve read, Bruckheimer’s got a script working on “ PIRATES V”, and has the go ahead for “VI”. And Depp says he’llmake as long as the audience likes ‘em.

It was kind of a complicated mess, it definitely had its moments. I think the best scene in the movie was when the mermaids first appeared.

I enjoyed it tonight. Somewhat of a crazy mess, but fun.

Best line of the movie (from Jack Sparrow): "I agree with the missionary's position." lol

Johnny Depp has the worst English accent of any actor I’ve ever heard. It’s painful to listen to.

Normally I try to avoid Disney stuff, but we had free tickets. I agree that the movie was definitely made to set up another trilogy, building up Barbossa as the antagonist in the next, and setting the stage for the Black Pearl to return.

One thing I felt was way out of place was the whole Christian missionary subplot. It's a movie about pirates and murdering and backstabbing and they were trying to push religion into the midst of it. My wife thinks that the mermaid and missionary are going to fill the roles of Bloom/Knightley in the next movies.

I wouldn't mind seeing them trying to really recreate an early 1700s New Orleans at some point. Going forward, I also wouldn't mind seeing them completely replacing the British with the Spanish as the secondary antagonists. I guess they kind of did when the Spanish soldier shot the British sailor with the flag.

Saw it again tonight with some friends, in 2D. I enjoyed it much more than the 3D version. The pacing seemed better. And in the little teaser after the credits, there was Penelope Cruz on the island when what washes ashore into her hands but the vodoo doll of Jack. Looks like she’s in for the next one, too.

My feelings exactly. They should have quit after the first one. I do admit to really liking Barbossa for some bizarre reason. :)

#1 The first movies was Fantastic.

#2 The Black Pearl was horrible - the morphed sea creatures/pirates was way over the top.

#3 The third movies was just OK, and it had Keira Knightley wearing boy clothes for most of the movie. Why?

#4 I'll wait a week to see the Fourth, but with Penelope Cruz and beautiful Mermaids. That's enough for me. I give it two thumbs way up.
