I have long maintained that at the end of the day I will have to support the copyright holders, but because there is no other industry beside entertainment so criminally liable for the destruction of morals and ethics in this country, I will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into it.
Hoist that Jolly Roger!
Could also be in response to the Playstation Network hack, but I’m not citing that as the sole reason this is being introduced. We all know they seek total control over everything, and will use any excuse to justify their encroachment.
I’m starting to wonder if we need to create a formal process by which we can HANG traitorous congressmen that vote for theses atrocious acts.
It would certainly be nice to be able to shoot federal agents that dare try to enforce them.
Frank Kratovil of Maryland was hanged in Effie in 2009 for his abominable acts on health care this was before he was hanged politically in 2010 for the same abominable act.
Yet his Abomination still stands. If you ask me he got off easy, the good people of Maryland had every right to demand that traitor stand trial for treason against the people of the State in attempting to rob them of their rights to health management self-determination.
Democracy does not work to protect our rights, and nether do the Federal Government’s own hand picked employees in black robes. Instead Democracy sets us at war with each others rights in the Marxist tradition of trying to steal and enslave each other to the state for the benefit of our own preserved “class” segment of the population.
The point is while this bill does not rise to the level of the abomination that was Obamacare it does bring up the question again as to how we the people are suppose to defend our rights.
I don’t begrudge people who claim they have a right to their intellectual property, but I do begrudge them having an exclusive right for life +70 years.
I also abhor congress for taking such extraordinary measures to attempt to secure them such an absurdly prolonged “right” to a monopoly over what is essentially speech. That there is the core of the issue. Unlike a 20 year patten over the process for making something or an actual item a “copyright” has been applied to actual speech, not for 20 years as in patients years for an entire life time + 70 years!
What possible incentive drives the progress of science among them creators when you grant them a life time monopoly? Why should they not create once then abandon their creative enterprise not only for themselves but most likely their children as well. (One wonders why such people would even want to cripple their children in such a way as to remove the need to innovate for themselves).
>these laws only effect Americans.
Yup. An example would be ISOHUNT, probably the best bittorrent site out there. The traffic slowed down because of the large American downloaders whose IP’s were barred but the site manipulates the search page that makes it harder to search through the different files for DL using a US IP. Well, thank gawd for Ip changers..
What in the tarnation does that mean?
kill the search engin and you kill free speech.
china knows that.
Obama NEEDS that.
the MSM has to have it to survive.
This won’t do squat, these sites will simply rehost to somewhere else like Panama (whose laws were set up precisely so it would be attractive as a place for web servers). Also good luck with the US trying to block sites or track users (just google TOR).
What this will do is shut down legitimate websites like FR and most bloggers that don’t have the financial resources to move off shore. Which is what I believe this bill is targeted at anyway, that is to shut down other voices besides the MSM and the official government version of things.
