So let me get this straight...before MOW, every week thousands of seniors died of starvation? And you will show me the proof, right?

One of the problems with the elderly is that it is difficult to get to the grocery store and prepare meals. It has nothing to do with income. Remember, many of them can no longer drive.

BTW, my parents got MOW for a few years. In the meantime, their substantial nest egg (after raising 10 kids) was obliterated with medical bills and nursing home bills.
They were honest and paid their own ways throughout. Many others are happy being thieves.

My wife and I deliver MOW once or twice a month on Mondays in our area. Most days there are 10 or more deliveries, and nothing that is more than 15 miles from our home. We finally talked our neighbor into getting on the program. He is in his 90s and still drives to the local grocery store about once a week if his daughters aren’t visiting.

Many of the elderly we see are the only people that have a chance to check in on them. I usually ask if they have any garbage that needs to be taken to the dumpster, since many of them live in multiple story apartment buildings.

For the record, I am very pro-charity. It’s just that some people make claims, in this case hungry senior citizens starving, that aren’t justified. I’m especially skeptical when gov. sticks its nose into the situation.

Yes, but it has been hit 2 years in a row by more taxes. $120 in 2010, nearly $400 for 2011, and NO COLA’s same as SS. COLA’s have not always been big, but they were a week’s groceries. Not any more.

He’s 71 this year and not in the best of health. When he turned 65 the gov’t forced him onto Medicare and Tricare. Both rationed heath care systems run out of the same agency.

We are not near any bases that provide medical service. The nearest one provides groceries, not much discount there, and an Exchange that provides clothes, etc...all big name expensive things like Polo, Coach, Vera Wang one small wallet was over $200.

Only cheap things there are razors, shave cream and shoe laces. Even TP is the same price as Wal-mart.
