Floppy drives - still makes me giggle.
Did you ever get a Sinclair. $99, complete or $79 if you assembled it yourself (as I remember).
Hey thanks. What fun.
When you stop and think about it, it really was pretty amazing what you could get an ole ‘64 to do and run, alas, those were the days.
My C-64 is buried someplace in the house ! The only thing, will the floppies still work ?
I did too. So I bought one that is modernized. Well, more or less. :) It comes down to whether you like to type fast or do you like all sorts of fancy keys on your keyboard?
I've bought one of these over a year ago and now love my keyboard again!
if I were to design a new commodore, I would insist on integrating it with a simple interpreted programming language (such as Python) just as the C64 did with BASIC.
All hail the Amiga!
I had a 1200 with 8 meg (at $400 for the chip USED!) on a 68030 board w/50mhz math co-processor. Learned 3D animation on Imagine 2.0 with that little beastie.Every morning was like Christmas - it took all night to render a frame of animation! God I miss that computer.
Workbench 3.0 - the most stable OS on a home PC ever. Preemptive multitasking in the early 90s...
A sound chip that modern musicians still lust after and sample regularly...
May there be a pox on the greedy fools that killed Commodore.
I had a vic 20.
And here I thought I was the only one. I also taught myself hexadecimal and assembly language on that thing. And being able to do it in 64K, what a rush.
Wow, how many grind settings are there on that gizmo?
Ah, the TRaSh-80. Such memories. A friend who had one got it to add 2 and 2 in BASIC. I was so impressed.
Me too. The problem with it got to be key bounce. But it still works.
10 REM REMEMBERING
20 PRINT “YOUR POST BRINGS BACK A LOT OF...”
30 PRINT “GOOD MEMORIES”
40 GOTO 30
RUN
The Troll Room
This is a small room with passages to the east and south and a forbidding hole leading west. Bloodstains and deep scratches (perhaps made by an axe) mar the walls.
A nasty-looking troll, brandishing a bloody axe, blocks all passages out of the room.
Your sword has begun to glow very brightly.

TI30? I thought that was in the late 70s. One of the few things I have from the late 70s is my wife (actually 1979), maybe also some clothes, no technology of any consequence.
[sigh] I remember back in the 70’s... playing on my uncle’s Heathkit PC that he had built, with a Panasonic cassette recorder for storage. Learned BASIC on that thing. Played many hours of Hammurabi... ah, those were the days.
> Kill troll with sword.
A good slash, but it misses the troll by a mile.
The troll swings his axe, but it misses.
