I have a novel idea.

Why not take a bedbug infested house, spray it with DDT, and prove to us DDT does not work? hmmm?

They won’t because it will prove them liars.

I know I post this every time, but here goes again. My grandmother, born in the mid 1800s, told me the greatest thing in her lifetime was the development of DDT. Better than the electric light bulb or cars. Because before DDT crops could be decimated by insects and people would go hungry. She loved DDT and used it regularly on her garden. Do you suppose that's why I'm a conservative? No telling how much DDT I've ingested :^)

“DDT kills insects by opening sodium ion channels in their neurons (nerve cells), leading to spasms and eventual death. ...”

I appreciate the information you are sharing with us.

That it doesn’t kill bedbugs, I have never believed. It is a hoax like global warming.

Thank you for sharing your time and homework with us.

Please continue to keep us non believers informed that DDT doen’t kill bedbugs.

Thank you again.

Brilliant idea! Even more brilliant would be somebody on our side doing it....

One other thing everybody needs to grasp about DDT is that in anything remotely resembling sane or rational usage, the stuff was totally safe for humans and other mammals. There were guys who fell into vats of it in the 50s who’re still walking around and basically everybody who survived those death camps in WW-II were sprayed with it to kill lice and none of those people ever died from DDT exposure.

Better still, I would volunteer to stay in the house as fumigation is going on and live a few extra days in it to show that DDT is not poisonous to humans.

If my memory is correct, the inventor of DDT used to swallow a spoon full of DDT once a month to prove his point that DDT was poisons to humans.

DDT won't work on liberals since it may be the safest insecticide in existence for people.

Prays continue for America.

OH SHI’ITE!!!!!

I meant: “...to prove his point that DDT was NOT poisons to humans.”

The anti DDT gods must be working against me.

I am very sorry.

H.L. Mencken had a plan to end prohibition which would have worked if the feds hadn’t ended it when they did. Mencken went off to Germany and put himself through the standard little course in brewing beer, and then came back and was starting to teach friends how to do it, on condition that they teach THEIR friends of course...

DDT is banned due fraudulent studies, yet mercury which has been proved hazardous for hundreds of years will be filling our homes in CFL bulbs by government mandate.

My father was in the 4th Marine Division on Iwo Jima. He said when they finally got back to the ships, all the Marines stripped off their clothes and threw them overboard. They were then sprayed with DDT.

That second page of course requires that you either read German or use one of the internet xlate engines to translate it to English.

Also of major interest would be Summerford's 1947 article on using chlorosulfonic acid to produce the stuff which can be found online. Aside from everything else Summerford mentions two or three related chemicals which if anything were even more effective on insects than DDET itself ever was and in the very unlikely event that today's bed bugs have any resistance to DDT, it would be overwhelmingly unlikely that they would be resistant to any of the others.
