I agree with both your points. The question is how cagy Putin will be about the timing of his stunt. If he really wants the control, then he would do something soon, so as to avoid costing his tool his job. Would be a real problem for him if Russian adventurism brought a reasonably constitutional and functionally patriotic President online in 2012.

“Seems to me that the government has a gun to it’s head
being blackmailed somehow!”

I believe it comes down to HOW they individually or their campaign chests benefit. In addition, the RINOS want to be liked by the Washington establishment.
We do not have statesmen, we elect prostitutes who call themselves politicians.
I am spitting mad. It appears to me that McConnell is worthless and needs to be replaced with someone who has the “guts and fortitude” to stand by principles and twist arms when necessary.

Bo won’t care and fold as he isn’t allowing any drilling up there anyway. We are going to start seeing a great number of nation states go nuclear now and I’ll bet that the first time a nuke gets detonated by terrorist group that it originated from right here.

I’m not sure that will necessarily the case, but the way things used to be, when adults were in charge, it was completely out of the question. Now, we have to wonder if the source wasn’t within the Administration itself! I pray that that last sentence is totally tin-foil, but that a rogue group within our borders setting off a device is truly too far within the bounds of rationality for comfort.

Not that I needed any more reasons to vote anyone remotely like or in league with the Kenyan out of office. :)

I know, when I tyoed it I had to frame my mindset in a suspension of disbelief! I don’t think it will occur here, but out there lies the beast and his minions are among us. What really gives me a red ass, is why isn’t this treaty taking any account of the strategic weapons the chinese have aimed at us. Maybe bo will announce another treaty with them futher cutting and weakening our arsenal.

Looking at the many treaties over the years since 1914, a person has to question the lasting value, integrity etc. of any treaty. It has been shown by history that treaties can be very dangerous for well intentioned parties. Treaties are formulated by nefarious nations for a tempoary cover. Feely-goodie treaties are often made /agreed on by clever people lacking wisdom.

Only if the Chinese let him, after all, they own his skinny arse.

Thing is, I live within 25 miles of the largest US military base. Not sure I’d even hear the explosion.

Google Panama Canal treaty, Reagan used this to coast to election in 1980. Every Senator who voted for the treaty lost. The 2012 theme must be clean out the stables:American
Sovereignty Forever. Long live the Republic. Death to the NWO!

That’s the kind of outcome I think would be the ‘good long term’ result. Then abrogating the treaty would be a good second step, though I doubt even a TEA-party backed Republican majority would have the cojones to do it.
