The Rent is Too Damn High. The overhead cost of being an American is because of all the GD taxes. Did you know in Roman Times the taxes were approximately 1% of income? We are overtaxed, overstressed and under-represented. Did you know that the Colonies revolted over taxes that a fraction of what we currently pay. The US needs to declare BK and crush the bureaucracy that is costing us so much money. Our government should be no more than a 10th of the size that it currently is, and most of that should be military. Does anyone know how much does our govt cost as a percentage of GDP?

The man has a point. My monthly "nut" is too damn high. My nut is fixed expenses such as taxes, mortgage, HMO, electricity, gas, telephone. The man is old enough (like me) to remember when the "nut" was a lot smaller for all Americans. We had more disposable income. Rents were much lower in NYC say in 1965. Much lower in relation to ones income. There were low rent areas back then in lower Manhattan ($55 a month fifth floor walk up in 1965) that are very gentrified today such as the area around Katz's delicatessen
But the same applies in all New York City and across America. The monthly "nut" is too damn high!
McMillan is definitely the man of the day. Homeowners are crying out that their mortgage is too damn high and walking away or going into foreclosure
Well, he is down 37 points to Cuomo in the latest polling. I think it is pretty safe to say that Paladino won't be pulling this one out.
