The SOG Revolver Hunter. A great, 5" long blade with gut hook, and easy to rotate to a thick bone/wood saw. Fixed blade strength with an ultra-slick rotating action:

The best knife is the one you never forget to carry.

Note: shown larger than actual size.

One ping, mister mag... should be an interesting thread.

I have a (growing) collection of knives, swords and spears. I dunno... I just can’t help myself.

My current daily carries are a CRKT M21 flip-open, and a Benchmade Carson design assisted opener. I just ~love~ assisted-openers. Have lots. Benchmade really seems to have the idea nailed.

For a fixed blade my current favorites are a Benchmade combat knife, with an alloy handle, and the venerable Cold Steel Trailmaster. The Trailmaster is just a good, all-around very strong knife. It’s a little big for dressing game... for that a smaller, rounder blade is probably better.

Or a knife light enough that even an old man can carry it comfortably.

That knife/tool is in a sheath on my hip even as I type.

Have you consulted Consumer Reports before deciding to bug us?

Unless you plan on actually hunting with it, a folding trapper works fine. Learn how to keep it sharp.

I always follow Consumer Reports recommendations when purchasing my weapons, small and large. I’ve heard that the Pentagon does too.

KA-BAR really makes a great product again. I highly recommend you check them out. Price is reasonable and quality is very high.
