Well this explains Rick’s uncanny ability to let nothing rattle his cage. I enjoy his shows and have frequently used his travel tips(some worked out some didn’t). What a stupid business move by Steves.
I’ll bet Steve spends a lot of time in Amsterdam.
People hear him speak in his travelogues. If you heard him speak in person, you get to see a whole other side of him.
About 7 or 8 years ago, my wife and I decided to attend a "European Travel Day" up in Edmonds, WA, which is the home of Rick's travel company "Europe Through the Back Door". There were going to be travelogues done by the travel guides Rick hires to take people on the actual tours. Not only that, Rick himself was going to speak at a couple of sessions.
We attended the first session of the day, and it was Rick, speaking about why going to Europe was a good thing and de-bunking some myths about European travel. Right in the middle of his talk, he suddenly launched into what could only be described as a tirade. He blasted the US government and "it's war-like policies", and started into how people need to start giving to anti-hunger and anti-poverty causes. If I remember correctly, he also made a dig at President Reagan. He got loud and forceful, and it kind of left the audience (not to mention my wife and myself) in a bit of a shock.
Trust me...he's a lefty.
In a few years his daughter is gonna be fairly hot. He has a son, too.
