The lien was due to an IRS error.

Sounds like you're parroting DNC talking points.

It’s like turning on a kitchen light in a DNC project.

As far as I’m aware, this is mostly been resolved as bereanway stated. I think that PSS is full of BSS.

>>Christine’s a tax cheat; <<

I don’t suppose the letter from the IRS explaining that it was a fault of the IRS. It was a computer error and they apologized to her makes any difference to you?

>> Yet here’s a case of an actual, admitted TAX CHEAT being supported because she says the right words.<<

Do you just listen to the left talking points and make your decisions or what? The letter she got from the IRS admitting it was a computer error on their part doesn’t make any difference to you?

I don’t understand it. You can’t go to websites like Wiki and hope to get unbiased information. It’s been shown time and again they’ll slam conservative principles and candidates. If we rely on that type info we might as well throw up the white flag because they’ll generate and print every type of accusation. All they need to do is create enough doubt in people’s minds to make them hesitant.

This is what Rove was doing, running with a bunch of half truths. We can’t be accomplices in these smear campaigns.

She didn’t receive her diploma until she paid. For years she claimed she was a graduate, yet had no degree. Part of being an adult is owing up to your responsibilities, and that’s what Christine didn’t do.

I’ve not been charmed, I worked 25 hours per week to put myself through college, and took 4 years and every summer to do it.

But that’s OK, you go ahead and be the champion of tax cheats and frauds...

I live by the famous quote from Judge Learned Hand (the judge most-quoted by the Supreme Court):

"Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands."

You gotta pay, but there's nothing wrong with paying as little as legally possible!

The lien was due to an IRS error.

Then why did it take 4+ years to clear up? If it's cleared up at all?

Rather than saying I'm full of "BSS", you could just provide a reference somewhere that says she's paid. I haven't been able to find one, and the only things I've found said that - as of early September this year - she still owed the lien.

So, is there a document somewhere that says she's paid the debt? If so, I'll humbly apologize. Barring that, I'd suggest you owe me an apology.

At the very least, letting this drag out as an uncertainty for so long shows poor judgment on Christine's part...

Can you share where that letter is? I haven't seen it, and a a Google search turns up only a link to Christine's blog that's been yanked. Thankfully the page was cached. However, all the "evidence" is gone, that is NOT cached.

So, do you have something other than a deleted blog post from Christine that states she's paid her debt? That would be most welcome!

UPDATE:

Her "letter" finally came through the cached page. You can download it here. Please read it! You'll find the IRS doesn't explain it was their fault at all; rather, it CONFIRMS that Christine didn't provide all the documentation needed, and it asks for MORE information to clarify her claims.

So, does Christine have anything that actually shows the lien's been lifted, her debt has been paid? Because what she claims is a letter from the IRS saying it was their mistake is no such thing.

A lack of veracity (or maybe delusion?) is not a good mark for Congressional member...

Correct, you just beat me...:) I found that cached page as well.

Now, did you read the letter from the IRS that Christine claims exonerates her, where the IRS claims it was their mistake?

Because that letter contains nothing of the sort. If anything, it confirms the IRS's position, and asks her to try to provide any further documentation to clear her name. It doesn't clear here in any way, shape or form.

The letter that I read stated that she was due some relief from their initial levy based upon additional backup she supplied. It also listed some wages, car and truck expenses, travel expenses and professional fees as being disputed that she needed to provide addtl info concerning.

It sounds to me like they misplaced the addtl info she provided as requested in the letter from the appeals office that noted the above. They then issued a lien which was subsequently released 2 months later. I’m not certain where you find she had an outstanding lien for 4 plus years. The audit appears to center on the 2005 return so it may be the audit began 4 years or so after the return was filed.

I do know as a business owner that IRS rules are extremely complex and often appear contradictory. I have a CPA prepare my returns but I’m certain if I were audited it wouldn’t be a pleasant experience.

Based upon what I’ve read I don’t think she’s a tax cheat. Often you don’t know exactly how the IRS views certain issues until it’s decided through the appeals process.

If an audit and an appeals process which results in a negotiated settlement is going to disqualify someone for public office then it’s going to be very difficult to find any candidates. I don’t see anything in this IRS issue in my mind which disqualifies her for public office.

I downloaded the letter to my own server, and you can follow that link. PLEASE re-read it. It says she is probably due some relief, but not all of it.

So I guess - barring any other documentation - she still owes somewhere between $11,000 and $2,000 (if the listed broad categories of travel/meals/entertainment and legal/professional fees were fully accepted as listed). But Christine - and many here - have insisted she's paid it all, that the IRS admitted it was all their mistake, and it was bogus. Yet that is NOT what is shown.

I do know as a business owner that IRS rules are extremely complex and often appear contradictory. I have a CPA prepare my returns but I’m certain if I were audited it wouldn’t be a pleasant experience.

I'm a business owner, too, I've been audited by the IRS, and I've gone round-and-round with them, too... Even had an ACTUAL mistake on their part. But the documentation was extensive, and complete, and much better than what she showed. And when the lien was lifted, I received a letter stating EXACTLY that. Not a "we'll talk" - but an actual "it's gone".

Based upon what I’ve read I don’t think she’s a tax cheat. Often you don’t know exactly how the IRS views certain issues until it’s decided through the appeals process.

She may not be, but then why does she claim the issue is resolved and there's no proof it is? If it's still on-going then state as much and say you're contesting it. Don't claim it's gone and then get found to be lying.

At this point, she's either lying about the issue being resolved, or she still owes taxes. Either way, it's not very good...

Why don't you go take the axe you have to grind and go chop some trees down. If you spent have your energy supporting good candidates as you do wasting time with this IRS issue, it might help.
