My main point is on the economy. I provide several key statistics which are the worse since BILL CLINTON was president.

Which is to say, "Things weren't this bad since the LAST TIME a Democrat was president."

Do you really expect Obama to fix the worst recession in 80 years in a bit more than 18 months? Which was created by 8 years of Reagan, 4 years by bush, Clinton’s last period and 8 years by Bush? What is he some kind of god?

All lies. Obama created the worst recession and economy since Hoover. Its happened ON HIS WATCH.

In all honesty I hope the left continues to blame Bush for everything. Most people now remember the times of Bush as being ones when they had jobs and things were not that bad as compared to now.

Obama has been in office pushing 2 years and he's still blaming Bush. That is also known as stuck on stupid...and on that path Obama will stay the course.

I agree. And, it shows 0bama as one who can’t repair the damage. It shows his policies have made things worse. 0bama can’t walk on water and the Hopey Changey thing is BS.

The blame Bush crap will end when Sarah takes the oath of office. And the commie muslim country destroyer is gone.
It’s just too bad she will have the same problem W had. Trying to rid the government of all the scum from the past administration.

We conservatives need to have a better answer for “blame Bush” than most Republican politicians and even conservative pundits are giving.

All the facts are on our side. Why don’t we actually use them?

We can show that:
1) A lot of the fault for the 2008 economic collapse rests on Democrat policies. Fannie and Freddie were at the heart of the collapse. They were the ones who bundled all the mortgages together into “mortgage-backed securities” which private institutions then purchased. Those securities became “toxic assets” because no one could tell how many bad mortgages were in them.

And of course we can show that it was Democrat policies - albeit stupidly continued by Bush - that pushed home ownership on high risk people who could not begin to repay the loans.

2) We can show that it was NOT Bill Clinton who “gave us a budget surplus,” but REPUBLICANS who took over both the House and the Senate in 1994 and forced Clinton to be fiscally responsible. A balanced budget was actually the very first plank of the Contract with America.

3) We can also show - as I try to do here - that the “tremendous Clinton economy” was also largely mythical.

The “blame Bush” message worked in 2008. It will work again unless actually come up with a response which we didn’t bother to do before.

Obama campaigned in all 57 states.

But on a lighter note... there was an Amtrac electrical failure blocking trains into Manhattan this morning and one of my leftist coworkers said (literally), “It’s all Bush’s fault for not funding the trains properly.”

And he said it in all serious. No sarcasm tag hung from his voice as he spoke.

Yes, but we don’t want to give the keys to that train to Republicans. The train is a lot better crashed off a cliff than it was “in a ditch.” Right?

That’s the argument we’re being fed.

We’re asked, “Do you want to go back to the time when Republicans ran everything, and unemployment was at 4.6%, or do you want to keep moving forward with Obama’s fundamental transformation?

they’re being selective in passing blame

Katrina - GOP president is blamed over DEM GOV/Mayor
2008 Collapse - GOP president over DEM congress
Deregulation - GOP congress in 1999 over DEM President
.com bubble - DEM president get credit over GOP congress

Let them do their thing - and we will win big! (And while you are at it, buy a “Do you miss me yet” tee shirt.

Today on Meghan Kelly she was arguing against a Democrat who said “The economic problems built over eight years” or some such twaddle, and Meghan let it go by. (Meghan, you are a sharp lady but you shouldn’t have let that one pass)

I mean, in 2006 my state had 3.5 percent unemployment! It was only the first and last year Bush was in that the economy wasn’t going gangbusters. This is Obama’s baby, he owns it.

I found it. Hot Air had both the transcript and the video.

The Hussein:

“So the challenge we have now is how do we set up a system where, yes, we’re welcoming new people to our country, which by the way makes us stronger. One of the things that is a huge advantage for America compared to countries like Europe is, actually, we’re constantly replenishing ourselves with hungry, driven people who are coming here, and they want to work, and they start a business, and our population is younger and more dynamic, and that’s a good thing!”

Exactly. This is how we lose the argument. We think it’s too stupid to bother with, and ignore it to our downfall.

Think Hitler’s Big Lie. It works.

Now, those who say they hope that the Dems keep using this strategy, it’s not that they’re wrong. It’s that we have to have an actual rebuttal, and not just trust people to know the contrary as the media piles on that Bush really was to blame for everything.
