Of course they are not the same, but there are some similarities between imperial Japan and current Islamic jihadism. One would be the fanaticism, the willingness to go on suicide missions for the cause. Another would be the goal of world conquest. And another would be the barbarity.
When the Japanese surrendered, they did so WITH HONOR.
Let's not forget that they had ample opportunity to surrender before they actually did, but persisted in more killing and destruction of Americans. It took two atomic bombs to bring them to their knees. I wouldn't call that honor, I'd call it humiliation.

Not totally. Remember that it required an American military occupation of Japan that lasted for about five years after the surrender. That was necessary to transform Japan from a war mongering nation dominated by its military to a stable demilitarized republic. And Japanese war criminals were brought to trial and severely dealt with just as Nazi war criminals were during that period, in part to teach the Japanese population that continuing their fanatical ways would have serious consequences.
Let no one EVER forget that Japan attacked us! Secondly, let no one EVER forget that more Americans died in Japanese POW camps than in German POW camps. Let no one EVER forget the Bataan Death March that was gruesome and cruel beyond description.
Let no one EVER forget the six million or more who were slaughtered in German concentration camps. Never Again is ringing very hollow in this country thanks to Liberals and RINOs. Amnesia is in vogue.
Evil is growing by the hour and surrounding us. What is new is the blind stupidity of Americans willing to forget history and who are dooming the rest of us to repeat it. Islamic Terrorists want to kill all of us. Supposed Moderate Muslims (is there such a thing?) are suspiciously silent. IMO, that speaks volumes to those willing to listen.

It all started when Jooos tried to build a shul at the site of the murder of a Nazi Party member. First, Hitler’s regime refused to allow them to build the shul. Next, Germans marched through the streets breaking windows on Jewish shops. One followed from the other as logically and inexorably as night followed low tide./sarc
Oh my goodness! I never meant to imply that we should ever forget these things. NEVER. All I am saying is that Imperial Japan is gone. islam is not. And they never will be if we do NOT fight them with at LEAST the same fervor we fought the Japanese.
My actual point is that if allowed to build this mosque on the site of their “victory” in NYC, they will do there what they have done with the dome of their bloody rock in Jerusalem. They will claim the city belongs to them, and by extension, the rest of the country inch by inch.
I am not arguing WWII, nor am I even attempting to insinuate that anything that happened should be forgotten. What I AM saying is that Japan has changed. They would not even consider building a shrine at Pearl. islam will NEVER change. And we must fight it or they will win.

It seems as if Islam in general has changed over the centuries, with levels of violence increasing and decreasing at various times. When most Islamic countries were under colonial rule of European nations, as was the case in the early twentieth century, there was nowhere near as much of this jihadism as we have seen in the last few decades. Also notice that Islam in Turkey had been relatively peaceful until this current regime, as well as Iran under the Shah until the mullah revolution. And in Iraq, things seem to be less violent now than during the Saddam regime, again after military defeat and occupation by the US.
So there may yet be some hope, but I would agree that the jihadists and those who support them must be crushed, not appeased by the West.

Iraq is more Islamic than before the war, as the Christians there have it worse then ever. Sharia is in their constitution, that is no victory. Sharia is what the enemy wants. Outside of violent Muslims, Bush did not know a thing about Islam.
