Palin is a kingmaker. She will decide who the candidate will be, then cover their run from the outside where she is most effective. She can then keep the governments feet to the fire by reminding them every time the begin to stray from conservative principles.
She will be sort of a conservative spiritual leader. Not in a religious sense but in a political way.
