Perhaps it’s just a temporary position until 0 gets a “weather report”. Which way is the wind blowing in the next few days, how many stories can the WH plant to test the system, etc.

Why would Petreaus even want this after the way the rats treated him.

He should accept and than announce his retirement a week later.

That’s my question. Among other things, it amounts to accepting a demotion.

The only possible answer is that he is a man of rare honor and willingness to sacrifice for his country.

Petraeus rightly and legitimately came out of Iraq a hero.

It is very doubtful that - under the presidency of the Loser-in-Chief - he will walk out of Afghanistan anything other than frustrated and embittered.

I am beginning to believe that like mac... this general also voted for obama and the top brass would not be allowed to stay on if they were not all marxists. I have no trust left in these political generals. We need warrior generals... not corporate fannie/freddie types.

That would have a huge political impact, depending on the words he attached to his resignation, but I don't see Petraeus as that type. He may hold an anti-American socialist in contempt, but it's a big step from there to a staged PR stunt to embarrass a man who occupies our White House.

I believe he is a man of honor and a patriot, unlike the one who is the temporary President.

One things for certain. This appointment and the subsequent confirmation hearings are going to make the Democrats look like the idiots they are.

“The only possible answer is that he is a man of rare honor and willingness to sacrifice for his country.”

Pfffft. Fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq under this President is NOT sacrificing for our country. It’s a PR suicide mission to mask the fact the our CIC wants our country to be defeated.

A true sacrifice would be for all officers to resign, walk off the battlefield and accept the consequences until Obama is removed from office.

Umm isn’t this the same guy Obama accused of ‘air raiding villages and killing innocent civilians’??

Is is absolutely pathetic that State Media will not remind its viewers of the lefts hatred for General David Petraeus and the comments of leading Democrats including B. Hussein Obamah.

The General is now fighting two enemies. In Afghanistan and in the United States.

He will be lucky to survive.

back stabbers on one side and terrorists on the other.

Oh I agree it’s not going to happen but it sure would be a great put down of the POS poser.

I was a soldier under arms once. I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, rather than some slimeball politician.

That said, I can also tell you that, had I still been a soldier when Obama got elected, I would have left the military ASAFP. I personally would not have willingly served under the first “God damn America” president.

At the same time, I would NEVER tell a soldier that he was somehow morally obligated to leave the military.

Petraeus - and every single soldier, airman, sailor, and Marine in uniform - have earned the right to make that decision for themselves.

My guess is that Petraues’ decision to serve this 100% self-absorbed political president will not end well for him. Or for the soldiers who serve in a war that Obama lacks the will to win.

And that would be a shame.

- - - - - - - - - -

That’s my point exactly.

If one-tenth what the left said about Petraeus were true, how on earth would he deserve to be confirmed now? In confirming him, Democrats tacitly affirm that they were liars and traitors earlier.

WE have to be the ones who do that reminding. WE have to make enough of an issue out of this that it gets picked up by a larger voice with a bigger megaphone.

I think your second line sums it up nicely. To Petreaus, it’s never about him. It’s about America and her military.

Rush reminded everyone of the vile, disgraceful attacks launched at Petreaus by the perpetually hypocritical left three years ago. In accepting the job it’s apparent that the general is putting country WELL before either himself or the thugs he’ll have to “cover for.” Were I in his shoes, I would have made absolute demands of Hussein and had him put his responses in WRITING.
