I went back and read my post. I don’t see how you can take personal offense at my comments. My position is that GOP candidates must show meaningful support for closure of the border now, during the elction.

Is that something you disagree with?

On your work since the 1980’s, that is commendable and the 100 congressional hearings you have attended on the subject is impressive. Clearly, though, something in the past approach is not working.

I suspect that if we wait until after the election on this issue, it will be another 30 years and 100 more hearings without the border being closed.

It is time for us (voters) to vote to close the border. Any candidate that will not commit to closing the border and take action to close it during the election process will not under any circumstances get my vote.

I had never seen it either. Old news to some, but I’m glad you posted it for the rest of us.

Thanks for the link. I had been to the site several times but not recently. I hope they don’t mind if it post this here.

From the website...

“Delegates buck Perry on immigration law Fired-up Republican activists in no mood for compromises bucked Gov. Rick Perry on Saturday by pushing for a crackdown on illegal immigration similar to Arizona’s new law.

The proposal was one of several platform initiatives debated as delegates wrapped up the two-day convention. The platform is a nonbinding blueprint of the policies that GOP activists want elected officials to pursue.

The immigration proposal, a hard-line approach that Perry has said isn’t right for Texas, advocates for a state law that would bar illegal immigrants from “intentionally or knowingly” living in Texas.

Similar to Arizona’s strict law, the proposal would require local police to verify U.S. residency when making arrests.

Perry has said such a law would unduly burden police.
American Patrol Report Comment

Rick Perry is an open-borders, no enforcement liberal and Sarah Palin should never have endorsed him. His $250 million “Texas Border Security Council” boondoggle earned him a “pants on fire” award. His policies will erase the border.”

Perry has hacked me off several times, but he has been the only choice that was remotely palatable the last two times around.

What a freaking joke! The next time anyone hears any Repbulican that has been in office say how committed they are to border security they need to be shown this map and these pictures.

Nothing like the truth staring you in the face as a wake up call. Newt Gingrich gave a speech recently about 2+2=4. Newt needs to learn a math lesson on the state of our border.

The more I think about this the madder I get at the Republican party.

Any candidate running for office that does not make a strong stand in favor of Arizona's law and for real border security first will NOT get my vote!

I've been chewed up on here for suggesting that maybe we just don't vote until the Republican party gets the message.

Had you and everyone else taken that stand two elections ago there would be a strong GOP candidate taking action to close the border.

Rick Perry will do absolutely anything and everything to get elected. Problem is his dim opponent is a socialist redux.

I will hold my nose and vote for Guv Good Hair.

There are sections of the fence at certain locations that are quite effective, the triple layer span at San Diego, the part northwest of El Paso in New Mexico that has reduced illegal traffic by more than 60 percent. But, as you can see, because it is not continuous, we still have serious security problems. There was a knock-down, drag-out fight over many of the segments, particularly in Texas, where the federal government didn't control the right of way because the Roosevelt Reservation does not apply to that state. The municipality of Brownsville fought it tooth and claw, yes, the same place that is crying bloody murder about the increasing drug violence in Matamoros. In contrast, some areas worked with DHS to get combination fence-flood control projects built that are performing both tasks very effectively, as far as they go. Also, the City of El Paso did everything it humanly could to impede fence construction, and got a fence anyway. The place where the 15-year-old was shot was one of the locations where the city bickered for months over what kind of fence would be built and how high it would be.

On top of all that, DHS chose to put HALF, yes half, of the fence money appropriated by Congress into the so-called "virtual fence," which was a total and utter failure, complete flushing of money down the drain with nothing to show. Much more fence could have been built, and much better fence could have been built, had they not decided to chase that chimera.

Old news.

I doubt it will get the cattle moving, they are tired, hungry and too stupid to move logically right now.

To get some kind of trend or movement going its going to require something else.
