The Original Intent if the ICC was to prevent the States from interfering w/ the free-flow of goods & people across State lines, & to prevent their showing of favoritism from one State to another, as opposed to giving the feds massive new powers to do whatever it "thought" was the right thing to do. It was to promote LIBERTY.

You’re welcome...the fact that it might not occur proves how low the GOP has fallen, doesn’t it?

So if the Soviet Union had decided to invade Mexico and/or Canada then you Paulites would want us to just sit back and mind our own business. Ron Paul and his followers are blind to what a real threat is. In defending our allies we are defending our nation as well in many cases. Ron Paul and his followers are isolationists.

As to the term neo-con it is a pure propagandist term. There was no bypassing of the Constitution and there is no disregard for the Founders or for state’s rights as you claim. The Commander-in Chief is given the power to defend this nation, there is nothing Constitutional about that. In the case of Iraq war was authorized by Congress as well. It is just pure propaganda being spewed by the likes of Paul and his ilk. And it is in this case the Paulites who endanger our military giving moral support to our enemies by claiming that America is to blame.

Being that Ron Paul blames the United States for terrorism he obviously seems to even have a problem defending this nation after we are directly attacked. It is sickening.

The fact that RP has no chance in he!! of getting the GOP nomination has nothing to do with the state of the GOP.

The only good thing to come out of having RP as POTUS would be a healthy shrimp fishery in the Gulf. I’s loves shrimps!

Insanity runs both sides of the spectrum.

No kidding! The PaulHaters prove that idea time & time again, provided that you consider them to be on the "Right" of the political aisle (BARF!). I have my doubts about that point, due to the fact that they embrace Saul Alinsky's methods of how they deal w/ those that they disagree w/ politically.

Let's put this on a personal level: if you arm yourself to protect YOUR family (& no one else), does that mean that you are isolating yourself & refusing to get involved in what's going on in your neighborhood?

If my neighbor devotes a large portion of his wealth to developing Paratroopers, amphibious assault infantry, carrier groups, long range bombers, bridge building units, reinforced bases at the four corners of my yard, boxing me in and forcing my other neighbors into his sphere of influence and control both economic and militarily, and places an extensive intelligence network inside of my yard. I may think that I should make some effort to counter my neighbors resources by enlarging my area of safety and home basing, thereby giving me strategic capabilities and room to resist my neighbors efforts short of having to only offer a last ditch stand inside of my own living room and getting my family wiped out and my infrastructure destroyed in the process, thereby removing me and mine from the world's economy for generations and possibly centuries and losing my home entirely to that neighbor.

Ahhhhhhh...I noticed that you said "in MY yard".

If your neighbor violates your personal property, of course you have a right to act. You also have a right (or better yet, a responsibility) to arm yourself for your own protection. If your neighbor remains on his own property, he is free to do what he pleases until the other neigbors begin to think that he is becoming a nuisance. If the other neighbors don't care & are not bothered by his actions, then maybe you need to chill out, arm yourself to the teeth just in case, let your neighbor know full well that your won't back away from a fight should he try to start one, & be prepared in case he does.

Good God man, that is what you took from that?

If you let the Soviet Union or anyone else form a goal of conquering the United States, and you let them proceed with that 20, or 40, or 80 year plan, waiting until they are on your soil before you project power and compete for global, strategic bases worldwide, and allies and fight when needed on foreign locations, I guarantee you that you would be forced to surrender with out firing a shot, because the war would have been completed on paper in a strategic chess game already.

Without the projection of military power and enforcing the Monroe Doctrine, the United States would be surrounded by enemies and would not have survived this long.

I see your point, & you make a good one. But is it not true that we, the USA, did a lot to help the USSR early on & actually helped them become an even stronger enemy than they should have been had we minded our own business? I think so.

Remember when FDR was talking about “Uncle Joe” back during WW2? WTF were wew doing w/ being their ally in the 1st place? I think that Patton had a point late in the war, knowing that the USSR was our enemy...&, if we were gonna be involved in the European theater @ all, we shoulda kicked Russia’s ass while we were there & BEFORE they had nukes! We could have done it if we wanted to!

I’m no historian, but I kinda agree w/ what Sen. Robert Taft (R-OH) said during WW2, & that we shoulda remained neutral, IIRC. I would loved to have seen Russia & Germany beat ea other to a pulp...& I think that if Germany wasn’t fighting a 2-front war, there may have been a possibility (???) that they could of beaten Stalin & killed communism right there. But Germany blew their chance by attacking western Europe, when his (& our) REAL enemy was off to the east. FDR was itching to get US into the war, & his interventionism basically destroyed any remaining ideas about having a foreign policy that was advocated by the Founding Fathers.

I guess getting distracted by mundane speculation of an imaginary version of European/American history, of 70 to 90 years ago, leaving out the half of the world war that did not involve Germany and the Soviet Union is one way to move on from thinking about current and future global threats to American survival and the survival of the Western world.

No, I think it's very relevant to what is going on today. FDR helped strengthen the USSR when he was POTUS. We later found out that we had Soviet agents w/in our own State Dep't, which helped the USSR get the know-how to make The Bomb. We gave tons of foreign aid to the USSR, & its captive allies, & they used our own $ as they created their own empire & militarize the Arab nations after Israel was created.

Our refusal to tap OUR OWN natural resources forced us to buy Saudi oil, which helped them & other oil-producing Arab nations become rich, & their new-found wealth was used both against Israel & the US.

That's the way I see it. Our getting involved in foreign wars & refuting the non-interventionist foreign policy that was held by the Founding Fathers have come back to bite us.

Irrational fear, pride, not wanting to re-examine and admit we might need to head in a different direction. I really don’t know what it is. It is mind boggling how the conservative base became the biggest cheerleaders of invasion, expensive occupation, and a decade or so of nation building. Traditionally, this kind of folly was the purview of leftists.

“With some of the views that Ron Paul spouts about America (that we are to blame in the war on terror, etc…)”

I agree, plus Paul often votes with the Dems.

ChrisInAR has been banned, so your agreeing with his child like knowledge of military affairs is going unheard by him.
