Toyota Corolla
Honda Civic
Ford Focus
Toyota Camry
Hyundai Elantra
Toyota Prius
Nissan Versa
Ford Escape FWD
Honda Fit
Honda CR-V AWD
Ford Focus and Ford Escape FWD made the list.

That is a sad statement for U.S. car manufacturers.
Do you really think TAXING the U.S. public is a way to “level the playing field”? I don’t and never will.
It is up to VOTERS to get these self absorbed communists out of D.C.. TAXING us MORE will kill our economy even more. How poor do we need to get for you to have revenge on China’s stunning ecconomi success? My suggestion is, “build a better mouse trap” despite the Demoncraps. Otherwise we are playing right into Obama’s hand with his economi view point.
I don't say this with glee. OTOH it makes me angry as hell. OTOH, I can't blame them. Our country is in decline and the world is SEEING it.
Yes but, how do you get China to quit doing what they are doing without taxing their imports. It’s a story as old as the first ships and more.
China’s success is due to slave labor and a rigged currency game. We can never compete with that. The net of trying to play their game is our $50 and hour jobs are forced to $5 an hour. And that’s the real problem. Keeping our standard of living.
So while the commodity is cheap, the cost in the end will not be sustainable. It’s best to force them up, than us down. How would people in the USA live on say $10 and hour wages. And don’t think this isn’t where Obama is headed with his commie crap.
“Yes but, how do you get China to quit doing what they are doing without taxing their imports. Its a story as old as the first ships and more.”
The answer is to have the U.S. measure up and be more competitive. Taxing their imports doesn’t solve the problem. The problem is with US.
“Chinas success is due to slave labor and a rigged currency game. We can never compete with that. The net of trying to play their game is our $50 and hour jobs are forced to $5 an hour. And thats the real problem. Keeping our standard of living.”
Good heavens! Have you even been to China? I take it you haven’t been there ... . No they aren’t using “slave labor”. There the cost of living is significantly LOWER than the U.S.. People there want to work becaues there is NO WELFARE there. Working raises their standard of living. There are some products and services we will NOT be able to compete with. Manufacturing is one of them. It takes o brains to be on an assembly line, does it? This is one of the reasons why they shine in manufacturing. We will NOT compete with them because the U.S. cost of living and standard of living is EXTREME compared to theirs. We need to be more competitive in other areas.
There is this Obama mentality out there that we should pave roads and build bridges ... the world has changed. People need to use their BRAINS and less BRAWN.
“So while the commodity is cheap, the cost in the end will not be sustainable. Its best to force them up, than us down. How would people in the USA live on say $10 and hour wages. And dont think this isnt where Obama is headed with his commie crap.”
China isn’t stupid. They are not staying in the manufacturing arena. They are moving up the food chain. SO again, why can’t we COMPETE in other areas? Your idea of taxng us for imports just pushes more poverty on people. How poor does the U.S. have to get before YOU back off taxing them more?
Please pardon my typos!
I’m in a hurry and have to get back to the real world.
Just give my replies some though.
Yes, I have been to choking coughing China, yes I have put products there. The Chinese cite the labor costs as their main advantage. They don't care squat for the environment, which is why they cough a lot. It's a two tiered labor system, the high paid interface with the world, and showcase their capabilities, slave labor in the back room makes the world go round for them. It's very much like what you find in South America, the elites and the peasants live side by side, but closer. If you saw the actual Chinese volume manufacturing plants, not the showcase plants, you would understand. It's also how we get so many defective products shipped out.
If the factory is fully automated then it reduces down to how much per square foot the government charges to set the machines down, and how much electricity costs to run them. The differences are substantial from the USA costs. Which is likely what I think you are talking about, because most companies don't outsource the 'trinket low tech products' -- The Chinese just do their own and ship to Walmart.
Working raises their standard of living. There are some products and services we will NOT be able to compete with. Manufacturing is one of them. It takes o brains to be on an assembly line, does it?
Oddly, the more mechanized the product manufacturing, the better we can compete. Just ask how it works with the Japanese car manufacturers and their small competitive autos.
This is true only to a point, most factory workers are temp residents of the cities and live with their families in the countryside. Where the true costs of living are far less than in the cities. They live in mostly factory dormitories in the cities. If you are outsourcing complicated products, like electronics(which is what I did), it's more complicated and depends on the product. It's why a lot of companies go to Taiwan for their higher skilled work force.
The major flaw in your argument is cost of living, they have a two tiered system, we have for the most part a live where you work one tier system. The only way we can compete with China is to reduce our standard of living. But the problem is as soon as we fix China by raising their standard of living, they just ship the 'trinket products' off to another slave labor country, often without telling us they are doing this.
China isnt stupid. They are not staying in the manufacturing arena. They are moving up the food chain. SO again, why cant we COMPETE in other areas? Your idea of taxing us for imports just pushes more poverty on people. How poor does the U.S. have to get before YOU back off taxing them more?
The flaw in your argument here is that China has 100s of millions of people that can be pressed into slave labor jobs. Most Chinese cannot buy the products they make even at China prices. They are careful to hide the truth here, because the people are catching on the what is going on.
Back later, got to work a job this afternoon.
Cadillac CTS and buick lacrosse are the top most reliable cars on the market. They are also gas guzzlers. 5 of the top ten most reliable cars on the market are ford products. That leaves only 3 out of the top ten that are not american made.
Your cash for clunkers logic is flawed. There were requirements to be met before your government subsidized trade in would be approved. First you had to be trading up to a vehicle that gets better mileage than your trade in. second, you got blue book value for your trade in.
Blue book values are not an exact science. For some reason, street prices of japanese cars tend to run slightly higher than official blue book values and the opposite is true for all other manufactured cars...european, american, korean, etc...all tend to have street prices slightly less than the official blue book value.
Large gas guzzling american cars are superior to japanese large gas guzzlers. miniature economy cars from japan are better than the american counterparts. So obviously in a cash for clunkers program, japanese brands are going to have an advantage.
The bluebook value thing also will encourage people to trade in cars that actually sell for less on the street than the official blue book value.
And finally, cash for clunkers trade ins will naturally be mostly cars that are very very plentiful. That means ford pickups, ford sedans, and ford SUVs.
Its a good thing you aren’t an actuary.
It’s economic “Mutually Assured Destruction.”
Evidently you dont care to read all the posts you little smart ass.

You don't understand China. The Chinese are not “slave labor”. The reason they had the one child policy is because people were starving to death. The one child policy is being relaxed and winked at because NOW, people can make some money! Yes, communism failed and capitalism is taking hold there.
It is not “slave labor”. The Chinese view capitalism as a Godsend. Their cost of living is much LOWER than in the U.S. and they are beginning to prosper as most do under capitalism. Not only can the Chinese afford to purchase their OWN goods and services they are prospering!
You don't want to accept this because it defeats your argument. The old stereotype you lean on is no longer accurate. Times change. China is becoming more capitalistic and the U.S. is becoming more communistic. THAT is why the Chinese are LAUGHING at U.S.!
The Chinese have pride. They will continue to “save face” by not calling attention to the fact that communism has failed them as they move further to capitalism.
Go to a city like Beijing, China and see how clean and modern it is. Go to the suburbs and see how they are improving. It's the U.S. that is slipping backwards. Just today I heard that the Obomination wants to make U.S. more of a “democracy”. Bull! He wants to be a Marxist dictator and drive us into the ground financially and otherwise. Again, this is why China LAUGHS at us. Who'd believe the CHINESE would be telling our government NOT to spend so much money! They KNOW this won't have a happy ending for us and they don't want to lose money on their investment with us until they are paid back.
The American people have spoken when they declined on the majority of American cars available to them and purchased FOREIGN cars. The people have spoken: I look at quality and price and the U.S. car makers come up short. Again, here is evidence of the failure America car manufacturers were in the cash for clunkers program.
Top 10 cash for clunkers purchases:
Toyota Corolla
Honda Civic Ford Focus Toyota Camry Hyundai Elantra Toyota Prius Nissan Versa Ford Escape FWD Honda Fit Honda CR-V AWD Top 10 cash for clunkers trade ins F ord Explorer 4WD Ford F150 Pickup 2WD Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD Jeep Cherokee 4WD Ford Explorer 2WD Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan Chevrolet Blazer 4WD Ford F-150 Pickup 4WD Chevrolet C1500 Pickup 2WD Ford Windstar
The facts are staring you in the face and still you don't get it!
NOTICE, how all the trade-in were AMERICAN MADE CARS and the cars in DEMAND were ALL foreign cars. Doesn't that tell you something? Your conclusion is "flawed". The requirements did NOT hold back buyers in trading in their AMERICAN CARS for FOREIGN CARS. People don't want America cars! Some still went for Fords but not a single FOREIGN CAR was traded in as a "clunker".
Little? I could stand flat footed and piss in your ear.
Really? What you 12ft 2inches?
Wow, when you put your mind to it, you are really good at being dense.
