I would be very interested in hearing from Freepers who have actual direct experience with Georgetown, Duke or the Ivys.
1) If your daughter is WELL GROUNDED, no amount of BS she gets from professors will sway her. I can't answer that for you. All I can tell you is I know of many kids who went to Harvard, Yale and Columbia who went in as conservatives and graduated untouched by liberal worldview.
2) What is she planning to major in ? If she's planning to major in the hard sciences -- Engineering, Physics, Biology, etc, then there is little room for BS from liberal profs who teach the arts. Hard sciences cannot be BSed. If your calculations are wrong, your cicruit will not work, the bridge will collapse and the rocket won't fly.
Philosophy and Politics are a different animal altogether. There is room for debate and personal preference. Hence, a lot of BSing going on in the classroom.
3) If your objective is inside connection, then of course there is no better place than the Ivies of these world, warts and all. Ask yourself how mediocre students like Al Gore Jr. got his position and connections if it were not for the buddies he made at Harvard...
For me, I'd prefer a good, conservative school that teaches conservative ideas well without compromising high standards, and don't cost an arm and a leg ( Hillsdale and Grove City College comes to mind ).
