No surprise here. Bush had problems defending himself BECAUSE he didn’t truly believe the conservative message—just like his dad. Why wouldn’t he go for Washington establishment?
Gee, now I’m even less inclined to see her as a viable candidate.
After Giving Fall Time Frame For Senate Resignation, Senior Senator Changes Mind Yet Again
TYLER—Hank Gilbert, Democratic Candidate for Texas Governor, Tuesday afternoon expressed little shock that U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison once again broke a promise to Texans.
“First she said she would resign in October or November. Now, she is saying she doesn’t know when or if she will resign. Texas voters could get more trustworthy answers from a Magic Eight Ball than from Senator Hutchison,” Gilbert said.
Gilbert also pointed out this wasn’t the first promise Hutchison had broken to Texas voters, and that it probably won’t be her last. Gilbert noted that Hutchison, when first elected to the United States Senate in 1993, promised to only serve two terms. Hutchison is presently in her third term in the U.S. Senate.
“First she said she’d serve two terms and leave the Senate. Now she is going back on her word about resigning. Is there any promise Kay Bailey Hutchison won’t break for the sake of personal convenience,” Gilbert asked.
“In my experience, your word should be your bond. Evidently Senator Hutchison has been in Washington so long that she doesn’t remember that a Texan’s word is a Texan’s bond,” Gilbert said.

You do understand that this is Bush 41 [GWHB] not X43 [GWB] who has said he’ll remain neutral and not endorse either.
I don’t trust Kay, and the endorsement of W certainly won’t change that, just the opposite. It’s the stamp of RINO.
Perry managed the Mondale campaign against Reagan in Texas in 84 and supported Gore in 88. He was a democrat long after the Reagan Revolution. He sold our toll roads to foreigners, tried to run a huge strip of highway through the state, to be built by a foreign company, and tried to force a vaccine on young girls, ALL COMPANIES INVOLVED HAVING HIRED HIS BUDDIES.

It just proves to me that she is not conservative, because we know Bush 41 is not. I am very disappointed in Cheney. I can’t understand why he would support her.
Good grief. In this political environment if I’m Kay I don’t want a bunch of mushy moderate mainstream establishment Republicans (who are more part of the problem than they are the solution) giving me endorsements.
Choice #1: A mushy moderate Republican who has been governor for way too long that has done essentially nothing over the last decade to shrink the size and scope of the state government or to stop the federal government from continuing to unconstitutionally usurp Texas’ sovereignty and the unalienable rights of its people. Every four years he will talk like a conservative just long enough leading up to the election to fool just enough voters to keep his job... while behind the scenes governing like the establishment “big government” moderate that he is. It was almost comical during the debate the other night to hear him try and spin as an accomplishment eventually getting around to lowering the new business taxes that had not even existed until he created them.
Choice #2: A longtime Senator who never misses an opportunity to vote like the “big government” moderate that she is. Not once in my memory can I ever remember her answering in response to one of her votes something to the effect of “... and another reason I couldn’t vote for the bill is because I find no provisions in the United States Constitution authorizing the Congress of the United States of America to legislate in these matters...” While Choice #1 was busy doing nothing on the homefront to stop the federal government in its tracks, Choice #2 was busy playing noblewoman in Washington City as part of the problem herself rather than the solution. And last but not least... unlike Choice #1 she won’t even lie to us or placate us and pretend to be a small government conservative when the folks in Washington City aren’t looking.
Thank God we have Choice #3, a regular Texan with a real career in the private sector who doesn’t really care about playing politics who will use her time in office to begin the process of taking on and dismantling the progressive, socialist welfare states at both the federal and state levels that have been “progressively” ruining Texas and the United States of America for the last hundred years. A regular Texan who intends to fight against the status quo and has no intention of merely “managing” the state in its current form while enjoying the perks of nobility on the public dole.
Thank God we have Choice #3, who understands that 70% or more of what the federal government does - especially in regard to economics, energy policy, education, the environment, and health care - is in direct violation of the United States Constitution, and intends to use the all the tools and power of the sovereign state of Texas, including nullification and interposition, to defend the sovereignty of Texas and to protect the unalienable rights of its citizens from the federal government of the United States of America.

If you’re happy with the direction the United States has been going politically for the last century... then by all means feel free to support Choice #1 or Choice #2, because neither of them have any real intention of doing anything substantive to reverse the direction we’ve been going. If you’re happy with the status quo then you have two essentially comparable choices in the form of Choice #1 and Choice #2 to pick from.
I, on the other hand, am no longer willing to just keep driving down that same old road to serfdom that the Democrats and (to a lesser extent) the mainstream Republicans like Choice #1 and Choice #2 have been leading us down for the last one-hundred and ten years.
I am ready to draw my line in the sand right now and declare “No More!” The federal government will never reform itself in line with its proper constitutional role because it is too addicted to its own power. Therefore, it is now time to begin the long overdue process of using the sovereign powers of the states to aggressively and unabashedly stand up to the federal government and reverse the destructive march to collective serfdom that we’ve been engaged in since the days of Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson.
Thank God we have someone like Debra Medina running for governor willing to lead us in this fight.
I’m voting for Medina, so is most in my family. She creamed Perry and Hutchinson in the debate.
I’m tired of RINOs governing my state.
I am tired of Texas RINOs, too. However, I am more worried about The Senate seat currently occupied by Kay.
If she wins the primary, she’ll quit the Senate and John Sharp will eventually win the seat (D-Texas). If she loses and doesn’t quit. John Sharp (D-Texas) will campaign HARD against her not really wanting to stay in the Senate, and there is NO ONE ELSE well positioned to run for that seat in 2012.
It would suck for the Republicans to lose the 41st vote in Texas, after gaining it in Massachusetts...
I won’t vote for a Libertarian, and that is what Medina is/has been. I can’t support Paul-bots. I think KBH would be bad, but a dim would be worse. I wish we had more choices, but Slick Rick will get my vote.
