The best thing I've heard lately as advice for the GOP, is say what you mean, and mean what you say, and stick by it.
People are sick and tired of politicians saying this and doing that...with Obama's pledge of transparency on health care reform (the CSPAN thing) being the most recent and glaring example.
The second best thing for the GOP to do is pledge to never take earmarks...and don't take them.
FReepers are not fools.....She didn’t resign because of bad press, She resigned because she was a sitting duck for the D.C. Dems who saw a loophole to attack her.....but if you want to debate then counter what I said in the previous thread!
All you say is that she quit and ran, then explained to me what opportunities she and her staff could not be bankrupt personally...she and her husband made less than 200,000 combine and they had to get a second mortgage out to pay for their legal fees, her staff made less and had to defend themselves from frivolous lawsuits as well...explain please!
And BTW her defense fund attempt was sued as well!
Funny. I saw that press conference and saw a able woman step aside to free family and the state from the constant attacks. She didn’t run away from any fight. She’s just attacking from a different direction. She didn’t leave the troops. She left them in the equally capable hands of the LG.
I don’t know of anyone who ever joined the NG because of who the governor was. I don’t know how resigning the post hurts the troops in any way.
If you can explain why you think it does, I’d appreciate it. If you can’t, I will just have to assume that you just don’t like her and want to hurt her.

I mean hsr job was damn important during the election, but it became a liability to her family after wards. You’re being ridiculous. She had someone in line with her values to step in and to then run for re-election, and Obama’s minions were messing with Alaska just to try to trip her up. She’s done more good for vets in Alaska and across the country in the last 5 months than she could have done as a political target in Alaska.
Her own son has been serving and everyone knows how she supports the troops past and present.
Now, someone like Mitt who ran for guv just to position himself for prez, then spent the second half of his one four-year term in office but running for prez let down everyone in MA, Dem or Pubby, vet or not.
Well, of course she does. Why wouldn’t Rush Limbaugh’s show prep be good enough for Sarah?
And what is FR but a perfect place to look at the richness of the variety of American conservative thought?! (Thank the L-rd I did not use the D word) (diversity) From real live American conservatives, not only journalists, from every crevice of the nation?!
And, dear Sarah, do not forget those of us in enemy territory! Remember when you came to L.A. County?? We were in our cars for hours waiting for distant parking spaces. We overflowed the arena where you spoke (and without McCain!) and filled up an empty neighboring arena where people could hear you over the speakers. Even WE didn’t realize how many of us there were! We may have to be “in the closet” by day, but we are here too!

And your cheerleader skirt is askew. If the governor had a replacement at the ready to complete the term she took an oath to complete it serves as more evidence than her Saturday Nite Live cameo that she is not ready for prime time.
What the heck are you talking about? Other than displaying blatant sexism with your skirt comment to me, you are showing complete disregard for or ignorance of sound executive management, which is to have as strong a team around you as possible.
I thank you for your service to our country, but there are a lot of vets that don't see it your way.

Man, I’m still up the wall over how the GOP failed to properly manage Dan Quayle’s rollout. McCain’s campaign was as bad as GHW Bush’s trying to run for re-election in a cigarette boat and playing speed golf. Don’t they ever learn?

Come on Man, listen to what you are saying. If you are any way familiar with the military, you should know that yes, it is a big deal to know who is the commander of the state. Please don't minimize the importance because Palin abdicated her authority. I'm an Air Force retiree and yes, we do scramble jets from Alaska, and it would be useful to know that the commander didn't abdicate their command. Palin is not ready to command!
