“Inerrancy is not the same as demanding a literal word for word reading.
Honestly, evos are so grammar challenged.”
It does mean that, with some variation - some allow for translation error, but all-in-all it encapsulates the entire foundation for “creation science” - the word of God is literally true. You’ve said you don’t believe that, but you have to understand there are different views.
It is not my fault that “creation science” fans like you cannot think abstractly - it’s a natural result of evolution that someone has to populate the back-end of the bell curve. It doesn’t mean you are stupid, it just means you are smart differently than most people, and are wrong more often than average.
what?
You claim that fundamentalists consider the Bible to be inerrant. I'm asking you if the word inerrant means literal or without error. which one does it mean?
Can you use smaller words, please?
Prove it.
You've refused to thus far.
Sure.
You claim that fundamentalists consider the Bible to be inerrant. I'm asking you if the word inerrant means literal or without error. Which one does it mean?
“You’ve refused to thus far”
No I haven’t.
And what exactly do you mean by *literally true*?
Do you mean read word for word literally?
Or do you mean that I mean it’s absolutely true?
Here.... let’s try this on for size....
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/LITERAL
1 a : according with the letter of the scriptures
b : adhering to fact or to the ordinary construction or primary meaning of a term or expression : actual *liberty in the literal sense is impossible B. N. Cardozo*
c : free from exaggeration or embellishment *the literal truth*
d : characterized by a concern mainly with facts *a very literal man*
Oh! Look at that... definition “c” talks about literal truth, meaning free from exaggeration or embellishment.
Do I believe that the Bible is true, free from exaggeration or embellishment?
Yes.
Does that mean that it’s required to be read word for word in a literal sense without regard to context like song, poetry, parable?
No.
We can try this one on for size now.

: exemption from error : infallibility *the question of biblical inerrancy*
Hmmm, I do believe the Bible is inerrant, free from error, but don’t see anything about literalness in that definition.....
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/TRUTH
1 a archaic : fidelity, constancy b : sincerity in action, character, and utterance
2 a (1) : the state of being the case : fact
(2) : the body of real things, events, and facts : actuality
(3) often capitalized : a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality
b : a judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true *truths of thermodynamics*
c : the body of true statements and propositions
3 a : the property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality
b chiefly British : true
c : fidelity to an original or to a standard
Hmmm, again, no insistence on literalness.....
*snort*
The only thing you have provided is a document that had absolutely nothing to do with you point. Provide some evidence, please.
:-)
Freon, light bulbs that illuminate, fatty meat, DDT, big-ass cars, things made in America, jobs, freedom of speech, right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, right to keep the fruits of my labors, RKBA, Bush tax cuts, politicians who have common sense and protect and defend the country. And much, much more.
Was that necessary? You know nothing about me. Your query was small and petty.
And your rant was?
Alright, I’ll move on. I don’t suffer trifles. I hope you and your loved ones have a glorious Christmas.
Do you believe the book of Merriam is literally true?
