I listen to EWTN, and there are priests and bishops who are STRONG conservatives, and not just on the social issues.

Some priests and bishops are more liberal, just as some evangelicals are liberal and some are conservative. Many evangelicals voted for Obama, just as many Catholics voted for him, and it’s a shame for all. I doubt if too many priests, even the more liberal ones, voted for him, though.

Check out EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo’s blog, and you will find honest criticism, as well as compliments, for the bishops.

Is Lou Dobbs trying to get attention, or is he just ignorant? What are his facts? I heard a woman talk show host on Catholic shortwave radio (EWTN) compliment Rush Limbaugh twice about his stand against Obamacare.

“Many of them worship Mary instead of Jesus.”

Catholics do not worship Mary, they honor her, and ask her to intercede to God for us, because God loves her so much.

I’ve heard former nonCatholics, who converted to Catholicism, say they used to think that, too, but now they know differently.

“but as anyone can see, the Catholic elites pick and choose which things they want to champion....( I say that as a Catholic, but admittedly not a very good one)”

Catholics who are proaborts are Catholic In Name Only, and are going AGAINST the Catholic religion.

I hope you don’t use that as an excuse to not attend Church, because you only kid yourself.

As a Catholic I am unaware of this so I have to conclude that once again it is a few liberals who have decided to call themselves “the Church”?

This is different than how catholics ‘honor’ mary in the States. This is outright worship.

That wasn’t a wierd suggestion my friend.....The point was brought up that Catholic’s do not worship Mary, which is not true....I felt prompted to respond, just as you did.......The Catholic’s I know do pray to Mary.....That is false doctrine.......Be of good cheer......

It depends on how you define "worship." I pray a Rosary daily. Daily I sing (actually recite) an 'antiphon' (hymn) to St. Dominic. I still know the difference between the Creator and the creation, and my attitude toward the Creator differs greatly from my attitude toward Mary and other heroically holy people.

I look at human, say, and then at his portrait, say a portrait in oils. I can say "What a wonderful likeness! That's quite remarkably good!" But I would never confuse a painting and the real thing.

So, from our point of view, not only is it entirely true that the Catholic Church not only does not teach but proscribes the paying of divine honors to any saint but when people say that about us, we think it arises from ignorance, malice, or confusion. In general, most of us know what we're doing, and we know we're not confusing Mary and God.

I don’t come from any particular background....When The Lord saved me I had a desire to seek Him through the Word....The Bible is the only doctrine I’ve known, and Christ or the Apostles for that matter never directed me to pray to or through the Saints or Mary.....He said I am the way the truth and the life and no one cometh to The Father but by me.......Christ who is our life is sufficient.....I appreciate your civil response and I pray we spend an eternity in Heavenly places with Christ Jesus.....It grieves my spirit to see what is happening to this great Country.......Turning from Light to Darkness......

It is frightening and saddening, but not especially surprising to watch how things play out when the people turn from the Lord. Gittin’ ugly out there.

Let’s keep praying.
