Actually I was in and out of DC during that time. I figured my odds of getting killed in a traffic accident were far greater than being an unfortunate victim of those whack-jobs. And by the way, I've lived in a place where life expectancy is about 35 years - there's some terror for ya.

Where did I “side up with the miscreants”? Observing the psychological disconnect people have between rare & unlikely events vs. everyday threats does not mean I excuse the creep.

And I’d like to know your basis for the “no surprise” slam.

FWIW (nothing as you’ve already demonized me), give each family an AR15 and let ‘em at him.

We live in the DC area, my daughter was in the 1st grade then. I’ll never forget how hyper the kids were since all of the schools in this area cut out-door recess. Even though they extended indoor PE time, it wasn’t enough to wear the kids out. It says a lot about how important fresh air and sunshine are to play in. Kids get a different kind of tired when they’re outside.

High school football games were moved to remote high schools out west (with NO spectators), and fall sports like soccer held their games at Fort Belvoir who graciously offered the use of their soccer fields. Some parents were even concerned about college football scouts not being able to watch games and how that would affect players chances at scholarships.

This man disrupted the way of life for a very large community of people for weeks. Just for closure, the families who lost members deserve to see him get the punishement that was decided for him.

It was a dreary dark night and I thought it would end up just like so many drear dark nights before. But this one would be different.

Standing there in the park with the woman of my dreams whom I’d just met a few moments before, I was entranced by her voice as she spoke with me.

He skin soft and clean shaven.

He tooth glistened in the moonlight.

There was no mistaking that invitiation!!

So this night would night be like so many nights before after all.

Who’s siding up with miscreants? I’m just not going to hide under the covers because of some unlikely danger.

I live there still and it was terrible. I ran to and from the car jig-jagging in the parking lots. I started ordering my groceries from Peapod for delivery. I was making a lot less money then and that wasn’t easy.

Yea, we know, there’s no such thing as terror; we just need to understand them. Bad guys are just part of the oh so dangerous scenery.
