We'd point out these vehicles have to have been insured and driven for a year Nope, just insured.

BS - nobody forced the dealer to turn the car into the program. Any dealer that got a car like this would just sell it.

I would have paid $6000 for the Bently. People just never call me about these things.

Who wants to be they weren’t really scrapped but ended up in some bureaucrat’s garage after greasing some dealer’s pockets?

Why wouldn’t the dealer forget the $4500 from Obama and just sell the thing. Parts alone would have been a nice little chunk of change.

Probably the act of some bitchy ex-wife.

OK, destroying this is an unpardonable sin. #3.
Vehicle:Aston Martin DB7 Volante
Year: 1997
Original MSRP $137,000
Rareness: Only 7,000 built; therefore, there are only 6,999 left at most I would have added a zero to the end of what the government gave them for this car.

My roommate got a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder for $5000 at an auction. Not a dink on it and the interior is immaculate. No chop or flood. One owner

I wouldn't be interested in the Excalibur but with Bentley, well, you know, it's takes sacrifice to make a better planet.
Or whatever.

Maybe there was a body in the trunk? Clever way to get rid of incriminating evidence.

Come on something is not right..
You had to go to a dealer to do the "Cash for Clunker" right?
And you get a max $4500.00 rebate from the gov if the dealer destroy the "Clunker", the car is in effect sold to the government for a max $4500.00
Well any dealer would know if a car was worth way more then $4500.00 and no way would apply for a $4500.00 government rebate on that car they could turn for more ...
The dealer would just give you a $4500.00 "rebate" out of their own pocket for title that "Clunker", and then resell

Maybe there was a body in the trunk? Clever way to get rid of incriminating evidence.Gee I thought that too. But then, how clever is it? The car's registered to somebody (just how many people buy Bentleys?), it's got a zillion serial numbers on its parts, whoever brought a car in had to go through a slew of paperwork, etc. etc.

The local salvage yard has a pristine 1997 Caddy with 43k miles on it with C4C written on the spotless windshield. When I asked, nobody in the office could understand the logic behind the program. They have C4C cars stuffed in parking lots of closed stores in several parts of town awaiting pickup for processing.
What a waste of money. Moreover, this crowd is so concerned about the environment they want me to use single ply paper in the bathroom but they have zero appreciation for the environmental cost of prematurely scrapping a drivable vehicle with a new one. I have come to the conclusion that even when the left seems to be telling the truth about what they want, the reason they had to resort to the truth was only to perpetuate the lie-du-jour.
