Exactly! So many of the rank-and-file Democrats are apolitical and simply are not fully aware of the change.

IMO criticism of today's Democratic Party should acknowledge that it's the leaders' and the stalwarts' "party" not necessarily the average Joe and Jane Democrat's party.

Absolutely correct. The leadership of the Democrat Party was as I’ve posted many, many times hijacked by the Socialist Left, and has been on that road since the 1970’s.

Many of the “Democrat Voters” are as you say apolitical, and simply vote Democrat because mom and dad voted Democrat, so why not. They don’t think about their freedoms, and how they are retained.
