"Thousands Quit AARP Over Health Reform (AARP Doesn't Care)" I am proud to say that my wife and I are two of them. They were pretty much useless anyway, but after they came out and supported Obama's death care, I could see they were far more about the 'bottom line' than about the business of representing those over age 55. Here's hoping that more and more people out there wake up and toss AARP into the garbage can.

I think you are looking at things rather pessimistically. We are winning on this health care issue, the cap and trade bill is dying a slow death, and anti-gun groups are pathetically ineffective.
I'd say that we are winning this thing. It's like Rush said, every now and then the American electorate forgets why they don't elect a Democrat as president, so they decide to experiment.
Once they see the dismal results, they go back to electing Republican Presidents. Obama will probably yield two or three Republican presidencies.

When I retired, I was determined NOT to join any group claiming to be fr retirees. I never was a joiner’’. I took a lifetime membership in the NRA in 1961, for 100 dollars just cause I could spare the money at the time and liked their magazine. Paid off pretty good so far, and I’m still in no other ‘’organi
zation’’

As are my wife and I. We had auto and home insurance thru their Harford plans, and found out they were much more expensive than other carriers. We joined ASA. The folks at AARP, whn I told them to cancel my membership, were nonchalant about it.....

The AARP is an insurance company. They stopped representing retirees a long time ago. They want a seat at the table in writing the new insurance regulations so that they can access the so-called 45 million uninsured, and those forced out of their existing private plans.

It's just a matter of time before AARP is willing to sell Grandma and Grandpa to the "Soylent Green" Factory........

I get a mailing from AARP about once a month. The mailing contain a membership card. I have started writing on the back of the card, “Take this card and shove it up your ass.” I then send the card back to them in the postpaid envelope.
