Thanks for posting the UIPA request here’s the follow-up, please post the following with the UIPA from here on out:

“I suspect the Hawaii Dept. Of Health will ignore the UIPA request–so that they don’t have to be responsible for releasing the info.

I think they want to put it in the Hands of the Office of Information. They want people to re-file with the Office of Information.

I am learning that if an Information Request is ignored for 10 days or rejected by the agency it was sent to, there are Offices of Information that you can then file to, that will declare a judgment as to whether the agency acted properly.

The Lt. Governor oversees the Office Of Information, so information on re-filing can be found through them (ltgov@hawaii.gov). Here’s what I wrote them and am waiting for the reply:

Dear Lt. Governor Aiona,

If I filed a UIPA request to a Hawaiian Government Agency, and they didn’t confirm receipt, respond to it within 10 days, or they reject it. I would be forced to take it out of their hands and put it in the hands of the Office Of Information if I wanted to proceed with that UIPA request. Is that correct?

Can you instruct me on that procedure or forward this request to the appropriate person in the Office Of Information, or elsewhere, who can provide me the procedure to follow?

I would also like the email address & phone number for the Director of the Office of Information and address of the Department/Office.
