Your experience is different than mine. My school's library doesn't include “Heather has Two Mommies” A fact I have personally confirmed here and confirmed in my children's elementary school library. It is however in the public library.

Can't really answer you as to why yours does — assuming you have gone there and actually confirmed said existence of book and aren't just thread bombing
