If we repeal the 22nd amendment Obama will have to run against Bill Clinton in 2012.
Heck, I wish we could limit the terms of the SCOTUS. and Congress....
It would take 2/3rds of the Congress to propose such an Amendment so that is not going to happen. It would also take 2/3rds of the states to vote in favor of it, and that is not going to happen either. This idea is dead on arrival.
Lets all sign up and Freep that forum.
THIS congress?
“And I’m sure, if he could twist Detroit’s arm this way, what could he do to Congress? (he asked, fearfully)”
He could possibly twist every Democratic arm and maybe even a few Republican arms, but never enough Republicans to give him the 2/3rds he needs for passage. Furthermore, since he didn’t win anywhere near 2/3rds of the States in the general election, I don’t see much chance of him getting enough states to give him a 3rd term.
In my small circle of friends, we simply call him That Kenyan Goatherder
There’s no way they think they’re going the 2/3rds route. They’re going to try to get the 22nd ruled unconstitutional.
They’re laying the groundwork for the day they get their 5th firm vote on SCOTUS. There’s big money behind this. Soros, Fenton, al-Mansour/Saudi money.
would it be a good trade if along with it they repealed the 16th AND the 17th?
“Theyre going to try to get the 22nd ruled unconstitutional.”
That is impossible. Scotus can’t find an amendment to the constitution unconstitutional.
Merchandise merchandise merchandise!
If they do, who’s to overrule them? We came damn close to just that in California last week.
But if not this way, some other way. Use your imagination. They have every intention of doing this, and no intention of abiding by the Constitution.
“If they do, whos to overrule them?”
They’d be impeached in about 5 minutes. You can’t declare something in the constitution invalid unless another amendment is passed which over rules the first one.
They’re going to get around the 22nd Amendment. And they’re not going to get 2/3rds of the states’ approval to do it.
Like I said, use your imagination as to how. They have no intention of going anywhere after eight years. None whatsoever.
