Conservatism is the exercise of personal responsibility, personal awareness, consciousness, so that the oppressive authoritarianism of the LEFT is not necessary for human commerce to proceed.
In this Easter week one should see that conservatism is closely aligned with Christianity which nurtures the self honesty of a moral and charitable spirit, so that in this way human commerce can proceed without oppression.
"They" hated Christ for illuminating this. Although six hundred years before the Buddha preached much the same message.
Thinking that "Libertarianism" is the antidote to Leftism is a profound mistake.
This is the message of The Downfall of the Bicameral Mind - Julian Jaynes.
Americans are tragically confused, and have been misled, possibly intentionally.

Does this, like, mean, like, I should be calling, like 202-225-2176?
I mean like the Congress Critter called from 202-225-2176.
And you would think that, like, repeating 202-225-2176 several times in the story, like, maybe I should call 202-225-2176 and talk to this congress critter.
But if everyone else calls 202-225-2176, like, I might have a hard time getting through to someone at 202-225-2176.
Like do you have another number than 202-225-2176 that I can call?
I hate to be put on hold, and I’m sure I will if I call 202-225-2176.
Maybe if I dial one off 202-225-2176 (+ or -) I’ll still get the same office as 202-225-2176!
Or maybe we shouldn’t tell everyone about 202-225-2176!
Then we can call 202-225-2176 first!
We can tell everyopne else about 202-225-2176 a bit later.
Then THEY can call 202-225-2176.
Of course 202-225-2176 will likely be busy when they call 202-225-2176.
Or they might get put on hold because so many others are calling 202-225-2176.
But atleast we will have gotten through to 202-225-2176.
BTW - why should I call 202-225-2176?
I’d vote Libertarian ... as a vote of “no confidence” for the other major parties. I considered doing just that before Sarah Palin came on the scene. But a quick read here http://www.lp.org/platform shows exactly why I’d not jump on that bandwagon as a card carrying member. Recreational drug use is okay ... abortion is okay ... gay adoption is okay ... and on and on. C’mon! There is no moral compass steering that party. Without a compass all directions are equal.
That is certainly true for those who are the least bit socially conservative (like me). Libertarians are a mix. They are liberal when it comes to social issues and conservative when it comes to fiscal issues.
Ping!
I’m still considering jumping ship.
Big difference between being a (Large L) Libertarian and being a (small l) libertarian.
I hear you. Frustrating, isn’t it. As far as the Republican Party is concerned, you don’t have to jump ship ... they through you (and me) overboard some time ago. It’s time for *all* conservatives to choose another platform. If we leave en-masse, the RNC will learn the error of their ways more quickly.
Thank you for the ping!
***”Libetarianism” is a reaction to the oppressive government by the LEFT, but is only that, i.e. reactionary.***
Reactionary?
So if the right wing party embraces socialism libertarians won’t complain?
***Thinking that “Libertarianism” is the antidote to Leftism is a profound mistake.***
Why?
Who cares about the liberaltarians? That’s just something Democrats call themselves when they are too embarrassed to admit they’re rats.
I’ve never heard of liberaltarians.
My pleasure! Could you please add me to your ping list?
Neil Cavuto just beat the heck out of this guy last week, it was great video.
I think I’ll call tomorrow. What was that number again? LOL!
Absolutely! Welcome aboard!
Dangerously incorrect in my opinion.
