Um. Wrong.

As for the other points.....

... they’re also wrong.

There’s too much wrong here to critique.

This is the kind of tripe we expect to see in Newsmax.

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham show today. Tammy Bruce was hosting. According to her, the White House has usurped the Internet Security from Homeland Security and moved it under WH control.

That means they can shut anyone down at any time with no checks or balances.

Nice, huh? Oh well, just one more liberty lost. No biggie!

As with everything else in this area which is still in the
“planning stage”, like the Fairness/Censorship/Localism Doctrine, my very strong feeling is to stop making so much noise about it now, when they’re still playing with the idea. Showing ‘hysteria’(which is the way it will get characterized in the MSM) only makes us look wacky, and proves THEIR point to the degree that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. My feeling about all this is to keep a very sharp and critical eye on all of it, and see where it’s going, THEN jump on it with both feet, with full force and go on the attack. Let them hang themselves, in other words, by flinging open the curtain when they are in the midst of passing their legislalion. And they WILL try to do it with the bare minimum of fanfare. DON’T ENTER INTO A “DIALECTIC” with them at this point, especially not in the ‘special pleading’ vein of “We have to tell Mr. Obama and Pelosi and Reid something.....” etc. PLEASE don’t take away our rights”.....please reconsider this policy of yours”,etc. etc. This is the WRONG tack to take, but it perfectly mirrors the position of weakness Obama wants to take, say, with Iran. DO NOT LEGITIMIZE THESE AUTHORITARIAN WEASELS
with recessive wimpiness. Be ready to go on the attack when they actually initiate something.

If you’re saying what I think you’re saying, you’re right.
It’s indirectly the same point I was trying to make in #10 on this thread. Tell me what you think.

That office would receive the power to disconnect, if it believes they’re at risk of a cyberattack, “critical” computer networks from the Internet.

This makes no sense. Aren't they effectively imposing a DOS attack on themselves?

DOS is sometimes better than enemy intrusion into friendly systems... and the corresponding ‘changes’ they could make to our data.

ie: Would you rather find your bank’s website down for a day... or keep it up and let the hacker transfer all your bank account funds to an account in the Cayman islands?

Didn’t this already happen when Eric Schmidt agreed to purge any negative websites from its monopoly on search results?

Well if Jay Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe are for it, it has to be bad for America, so I am against it.

The Department of Homeland Security is part of the Executive Branch and reports to the President.

What is changing?

I think you’re right.

Overreacting is exactly what has happened with the AIG bonus hysteria.

Meanwhile Zer0 submits a nationalized health plan and a phony budget projection.

Keep an eye on the facts.
