Silly Rove, tricks are for kids.

The Reps HAVE NO LEADERSHIP and until that is solved then everything else is a pipe dream. The very fact that HUCKABEE showed up on the straw poll says that the Reps are in deep denial - as many here on FR are.

Always a pleasure to have the guy who helped spill the milk giving you the estimate of how long it's gonna take for YOU to clean it up. Would be happy to watch Rove walk off into the sunset along with Alan Greenspan and a not a few others.

Not to be contentious, but rather for the sake of debate, I’d take issue with that analysis, in that, if my recollection of the Regan co-alition is correct, it was anti-immigration, (which is odd considering his amnesty). The only hope for conservatives is to steal away the Hispanic vote, if that’s even remotely possible, while at the same time gathering up new youth vote. While the Christians may be the largest faction of the “Conservative” vote, as a portion of the total voting public, their numbers are dwindling fast. Or perhaps it’s better put to say that the percentage of Christians who vote conservative is dwindling fast.

It may also be the case that one of the major miscalculations in all of this is that I suspect the number of eligible black voters is far larger than anyone knows and is certainly larger than reported for the last 50 years by the census. If that is the case, given the poor turnout in the Hispanic community, even they may not be of large enough number to outweigh the Dems natural demographic and economic advantage. The most stunning number to come out of all this mess has been the number of those who pay no taxes, 40%, if reports are correct. They’ll always be solidly in the Dem fold and in 4 years, their number will have swollen significantly.

No, it was anti-illegal alien. Please use correct terminology. No Conservative is anti-immigration, and I stand among the most surly and insistent of them all. We are a nation of laws, not men. The law must be upheld.

The only hope for conservatives is to steal away the Hispanic vote, if that’s even remotely possible, while at the same time gathering up new youth vote.

You mean, "the only hope for Republicans", as no Conservative believes that tripe.

While the Christians may be the largest faction of the “Conservative” vote, as a portion of the total voting public, their numbers are dwindling fast. Or perhaps it’s better put to say that the percentage of Christians who vote conservative is dwindling fast.

I am a part of the Evangelical Christian Right, and no one I know voted for McCain or Obama. Furthermore, while most at one time were staunch Reagan Republicans, I don't know a single Republican anymore...

Is it so hard to imagine that the Christians were mortified by their arch-nemesis being selected as the Republican nominee? Is it so hard to comprehend that they have left in droves because even their paramount issue, the Pro-Life Platform was *not* supported by the Republican candidate, or his VP? Is is any wonder that they ignore you when their forum, the Value Voters was ignored and replaced by the liberal forum at Saddleback? Foolish Republicans. You will not have your way.

No offense, but the Republicans, thinking much like you do, have diminished themselves to 26% nation wide. Yet still you (as they) cling to meaningless statistics.

Try handing the party back to the REAL Conservatives- The Reaganites. They will do what 65% of this country wants, instead of worrying about numbers, and pimping themselves to inner-city yoots (who won't vote for them anyway).

Try real support for the timeless principles that Conservatives yearn for, and true dedication to those principles instead of mere lip service. Then look at those numbers and see what has happened.

If you truly believe that in the Land of Sodom and Gomorrah that Reagan Conservatives have so much as the chance of a snowball in Hades of ever again winning a national election you are truly deceived and that speaks to the number you quote. “The Reaganites. They will do what 65% of this country wants.” Excuse me but when the “Conservatives” may have had the party, they never pulled “65%” of the vote.

And, I love: “I am a part of the Evangelical Christian Right, and no one I know voted for McCain or Obama” yea, and look what you got in the White House. You’ll be lucky if your Evangelical Christian Right House of Worship is still open after BO and his band of National Socialist Fascists is done with you people.

Just what I was thinking: we may not have a country left if it takes us 4 years, let alone 8!

The Conservatives have never had control of the party. EVER. And they sure as hell gave the Republicans better than 26% National membership.

You’ll be lucky if your Evangelical Christian Right House of Worship is still open after BO and his band of National Socialist Fascists is done with you people.

It is not much different than with McCain

True and to a large part that’s precisely what’s wrong with the Republican party; the brand is broke. Caught between “Conservatives” on the one hand, Rino’s on the other. I’m not going to commence an argument about the right or wrong of either, although I probably lean Conservative. But the truth is it’s like trying to sell Pepsi to a Coke crowd.

I guess that’s why I lean to the Libertarian model; it’s a relatively fresh brand.

Libertarianism without the rest of Conservatism is every bit as doomed to failure as any other. I honor my Libertarian FRiends, but it takes all of us, or none.
