Well, I believe there are “good” DamYankees and there are “bad” DamYankees. I even know some of both varieties.
But they are still DamYankees! They moved South and stayed!
As for me, I am American by birth and Southern by the Grace of God!

"I do realize that Lincolns tepid support for Corwin was not about slavery but about preserving the union." Lincoln's involvement with the Corwin Amendment goes well beyond tepid.
From a quick search: "In 1861, a proposed amendment, was signed by President Lincoln. This was the only proposed amendment that was ever signed by a president. That resolve to amend read: "ARTICLE THIRTEEN, No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State." (In other words, President Lincoln had signed a resolve that would have permitted slavery, and upheld states' rights.) Only one State, Illinois, ratified this proposed amendment before the Civil War broke out in 1861.

"So why did the south walk away from this golden ticket? Why fight a bloody war when there was a much easier way to keep slaves? The Corwin amendment would have reinforced what the Constitution already guaranteed in terms of slavery, so it made no real difference in that "peculiar institution".
In answer to your question, it appears that slavery wasn't the only consideration. Many contend that tariffs were the overriding issue of secession, and Mr Charles Adams makes a compelling case in that regard with his book "When in the Course of Human Events".

Great list. I could add so much to that. I am so tired of libs treating “southerners of color” as pawns. They are my people.

using "good" & DAMNyankee in the same sentence is an oxymoron, unless of course it is a part of something like:
"so you got mad & LEFT??? GOOD riddance."
