A basic principle of conservative politics is to insure (now migrate because of past incrementalism) the authority and responsibility of decision making to the most fundamental units of society - the individual, the family, the community, the state, and least, the federal government.

the Prime Directive.

In this way the individual has the closest scrutiny of the decisions which affect him.

“But why did the states have to wait until the Dims control both houses of Congress & the Presidency before doing this?”

Actually, several states have been trying for a few yrs to pass state sovereignty resolutions.

We need to repeal a lot of laws and amendments.

What a mistake. The original amendments were all we need.

Not only that, we need Congress to limit the jurisdiction of the federal courts, which it could easily do....that would, IMO, be the best way to eliminate Roe v. Wade!

That would then place the abortion issue back to the states, where it originally belonged. I personally wouldn’t mind if some states allowed abortion & others didn’t, as long as my state was pro-life.

I’d like to find out about any efforts going on in Texas to this end.

The size of all government is way to big. Too expensive and too controlling.

“I’d like to find out about any efforts going on in Texas to this end.”

...just starting up.

The real push (i.e., when the legislature starts to study the idea) will not be until they meet again in two years, as it’s too early this session. In two years the time bomb of the national debt will just be starting to be felt, and that’s where Texans will have had enough.

Some off-the-cuff implications:

I agree with joe fonebone; the Seventeenth Amendment was clearly a (power grab) by the ‘progressives’ who wanted to limit state resistance to their liberal agenda. It would have been better to not have had it at all, becuase before the 17th the Senators had to rely more on the wishes of their state constitutents (through their local elected officials) it put state senators/house reps in DIRECT line of Federal controll from the bottom up, now after the 17h there is Virtually “No” controll the States have over their Senators! REPEAL THE 17th!

Jesus is the salvation of the country (citizenry), but this movement (may be) the last resort-Salvation of OUR Republic (at least in the traditional American sense)!~

The problem my friend, is that the Federal Government (through the Federal Reserve) has Controll over the money (whether they collect any taxes or not). Monetary policy is at the root of our problem: We should ALSO encourage states to pass “honest money” acts creating parallel honest money “currencies” issued from the states, backed by Gold/Silver/etc). Then THE FEDS can “SHOVE THEIR MONEY (Worthless Federal Reserve Notes)”.

Jesus is the salvation of the country (citizenry)

Yes, I understand Jesus does not save entities such as land masses called countries, but actual people and movements such as "state sovereignty" saves Republics. I wasn't confused

Is that when the State appoints the Senator? So they represent the State instead of a political party?

They will represent the political party in power in the State.
