Interesting read.

Stalin lost his chance to act as Europe’s liberator and see his dream of spreading communism come true.

In 2009 I don't think he'd be too disappointed. The spread of communist ideaology has just taken a more subtle form.

It is taught in the schools that WWII started with the Nazi invasion of Poland. What is not taught is that BOTH Germany and the Soviet Union started WWII. The German army conquered western Poland and the Red Army invaded the eastern half of Poland. The USSR is always treated as a victim of WWII when in fact it was one of the perpetrators.

“The USSR is always treated as a victim of WWII when in fact it was one of the perpetrators.”

How true. Unfortunately our schools’s text books actually treat Uncle Joe as a good guy. Most people would be shocked to know he killed a hell of a lot more people than Hitler.

“We can only find two kinds of Communist leaders,” says Suvorov. “Criminals, or idiots. Stalin was a criminal.”

Obama, on the other hand ...

This is hardly new. I read about Stalin, Hitler and their alliance and the reasons why many including Patton saw Stalin as a major player with Hitler in starting WWII back in the 60s.

Of course Stalin was part and parcel to the war and had ambitions that paralleled Hitler’s. The record has been there all along.

Apparently, the Soviet invasion of Finland never happened.

Nor the Soviet invasion of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in 1940.

No not a revelation. I’m just sick of hearing all the time that Hitler started WWII as if he did at all alone when in fact he teamed up with Stalin in a pact to carve up eastern Europe with the Soviets. Stalin and the USSR were Hitler’s willing partners. Nazism and Communism have a lot in common.

Nationalist Socialists are Nazis
Internationalist Socialists are Communists.
American Socialists are Democrats

People need to be occaisionaly reminded of these facts. I think most have forgotten.

I really do appreciate these historical posts on FR.

Putin's reestablishment of the old USSR is in keeping with Stalin's goal. Europe is closer to a takeover by communism than it was in the 40’s. The US is not likely to stop the incremental progress of communist aggression. In fact the current US administration need only move slightly to the left for all of the West to fall under the sway of Stalin's Russia. We are closer than most imagine.

Most people would be shocked to know he killed a hell of a lot more people than Hitler.

And not only that, but Hitler greatly admired Stalin, and in fact, inspired Hitler to be even more ruthless. You could make the claim that without Stalin's example, Hitler may not have even attempted to exterminate the Jews, but Stalin showed that it was possible to exterminate entire races of people (he certainly tried it with the Ukrainians).

The current administration is far to the left of any European government I can think of.

Sarkozy, Putin, and Merkel seem conservative compared to BHO.

And Stalin tremendously admired Hitler. He especially liked the way Hitler purged the SA in the Night of the Long Knives. This inspired Stalin to launch his own massive purges inside the USSR during the 1930s.

Good point.

The Finns handed the Russkies a$$es to them. I still think Franco ranks as the best commie butt whipper of all time. Booted them clear across his country and then told Hitler to pound sand in WWII.

I'd place him as a close second behind this guy:

Yes, and unlike Hitler and Stalin who were secular and atheistic, Franco was deeply religious and had a conscious to live. He was not nearly as bad as he is portrayed by liberal historians and the MSM. He wisely kept Spain out of WWII, rebuilt the economy, restored the monarchy, and protected the Church which was horribly persecuted in Communist, I mean “republican” Spain.

At least that guy is a capitalist which is more than we can say for the current administration.
